Position Summary:

  • South Florida Bible College invites applications for an EAP Teacher qualified to teach ESL courses. This position is part time working on-campus no more than 16 hours per week and must be a resident in the state of Florida.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • An EAP Teacher is responsible for teaching ESL classes with adult international students from varied countries. Classes varies between level 1 and level 6, to be determined by the Oxford Placement Test that every student is submitted at admissions. Teachers are expected to teach high-quality classes implementing the Oxford Wide Angle curriculum and following the lesson plan previously defined with the Pedagogical Coordinator. Among the activities and responsibilities, the EAP teacher is required to complete the necessary administrative work necessary for classes in a timely manner and support your colleagues by participating in collaborative training sessions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned MA in TESOL, English, Literature, or Composition and Rhetoric, or a related field.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Certificate in ESL/ TESOL, or
  • Bachelor degree in Education (equivalent) or in academic progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning;
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials;
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction;
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures;
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school;
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work;
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies;
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development;
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations;
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities;
  • Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings;
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs;
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities;
  • Prepare classroom for class activities;
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities;
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development; Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
