An opportunity has arisen to join Flood Risk Management team as a Senior Technician.
This role will involve assisting the Flood Risk Manager in delivering the Councils statutory functions as a Lead Local Flood Authority and to develop and promote best practice. This includes assisting in delivering the actions of Leicestershires Local Flood Risk Management Strategy and deputising and/or assisting the Flood Risk Manager when required in representing the Council at meetings as appropriate etc.
About the Role
This role will involve being a key part of the Flood Risk Management team delivering the remit of the Lead local Flood Authority. This will involve a variety of functions including the statutory consultee to the planning process investigating locally significant flooding issues developing and delivering flood resilience projects updating the asset register and responding to applications for consent under the Land Drainage Act.
You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have experience of managing your own workload and working to deadlines and be prepared to challenge the status quo in line with evolving statutory responsibilities.
You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

About You
To apply for this post you must:
- NVQ 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject (i.e. BTEC Higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification) or experience that meets the essential requirement.
- Experience of working in the field of flood risk management and/or civil engineering
- Collaborative working with customers and key stakeholders to deliver outputs and outcomes.
- Interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice based on relevant guidance and standards relating to Flood Risk Management.
- Have excellent communication and presentation skills including being able to provide relevant concise written advice and negotiate successful outcomes
- Be able to work to tight timescales and to agreed targets in a faced paced working environment often subject to change due to a constantly evolving workload.
