What does a Behavioral Intervention Specialist do
At The Arc Lexington our Behavior Intervention Specialists (BIS) teach inspire and guide people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live their best lives through positive behavior and supportive relationships. Our BIS works closely with each person we support and their teams to assess develop and implement support plans providing instruction and support tailored to address mental emotional and social needs. They conduct comprehensive assessments for behavioral challenges and deliver personalized training and guidance to empower the people we support and their support teams towards achieving greater independence and fulfilling their life goals. The Arc Lexington is committed to providing continual learning and professional growth opportunities to enhance our teams specialized skills.
Qualifications:
- A Masters degree in Psychology or Social Work is required.
- Experience in working with people with disabilities preferred.
- A valid NYS drivers license that meets Agency standards is required.
- Use of own vehicle is required.
