Getting Ready for Kindergarten - Teacher
This program will be open to newly enrolled Waltham Public Schools students entering kindergarten in September 2026 who did not attend preschool and whose families indicate on the Home Language Survey that a language other than English is spoken at home. Priority will be given to students who will be the first in their families to attend school in the United States. The Multilingual Department will collaborate with the Parent Information Center and Waltham Family School to recruit students and families for the program. Students who attend will have the opportunity to become familiar with kindergarten routines expectations and classroom structures through guided practice and interactive activities. Caregivers will have opportunities to learn about important aspects of the school system including early release days illness and attendance guidelines transportation and available community resources such as the Welcome Center WPY Waltham Family School and after-school programming.
Program Dates: July August 4 & 6 from 9 -11
Locations: Whittemore Elementary School & Plympton Elementary School Hiring for two (2) teachers at each site for a total of four (4) teachers
The total number of hoursis 20 and the hourly rate is $40/hr for a total of $800.
