WHAT YOU WILL DO FOR OUR TEAM

The Resident Services Intern will gain hands-on experience in providing services to residents living in low-income communities. The Intern will work with Homes for Goods Resident Services team to complete work requests and maintain the grounds and buildings at low-income apartment communities.

The internship will run for 3-6 months over the Spring and Summer months. Start and end dates are flexible based on the interns schedule and academic and/or professional obligations. The Intern will be scheduled approximately 10-15 hours per week (depending on intern availability).

DUTIES

These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar related or a logical assignment to the position.

  • Provide a variety of day-to-day tasks as required to assist Resident Services in the delivery of services to housing communities.
  • Support Extra Helpings Senior Grocery and Summer Lunch food distribution programs.
  • Support transportation of food from FFLC to community sites and assist with loading and unloading as needed.
  • Assist Resident Services staff in coordinating community events and programs.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining community rooms and services spaces.
  • Complete required documentation and reports in compliance with program requirements.
  • Distribution and posting of notices newsletters and other communications.
  • Professional communication between staff residents and community partners.

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job is sufficient. Typical combinations of training and experience would be:


IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate will likely have knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Growth mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Perform a wide variety of physical tasks requiring frequent and repetitive lifting bending squatting climbing crawling and reaching above shoulder level.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • The desire to strengthen the overall community and support good neighbor relations.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

TRAINING:

The Resident Services Internship is designed for Homes for Good residents or participants seeking entry level experience in providing social services. No prior professional experience is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this position the employee is frequently required to stand bend reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to 100 pounds of force infrequently up to 75 pounds occasionally up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds continually.

COMPENSATION: The pay rate for this position is $15.05 per hour.

Gain hands-on experience in the field of resident/social services. Interns will have the opportunity to work with staff to develop and implement skills related to community programming and services delivery. This will give Interns a firsthand look at the challenges and rewards of working in the social services field.

Opportunities to shadow skilled resident services functions. The Intern will have the opportunity to shadow resident services functions such as community planning outreach and engagement data management and resource and referral. This will help the Intern to develop an understanding of the various skill areas within the social service field.

Make a difference in the community. The Intern will have the opportunity to make a difference in the community by working to improve the lives of Homes for Goods residents.
