Job Summary

The Sr. Automation Engineer at Jabil will be responsible for leading the design development implementation and optimization of automated manufacturing systems. This role focuses on enhancing production efficiency quality and cost-effectiveness through innovative automation solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the entire automation project lifecycle from concept and design to implementation testing and continuous improvement.

• Develop program and troubleshoot PLCs HMIs SCADA systems and industrial robots (e.g. Fanuc KUKA ABB).

• Design and integrate vision systems motion control systems and other advanced automation technologies.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing process engineering and quality to define automation requirements and deliver robust solutions.

• Conduct root cause analysis of automation system failures and implement effective corrective actions.

• Perform feasibility studies cost-benefit analyses and risk assessments for new automation initiatives.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation systems including schematics programming logic and operational procedures.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

• Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous innovation.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all automation projects.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics Computer Engineering or a related field. Masters degree preferred.

• 8 years of experience in industrial automation including design programming and implementation of automated systems.

• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g. Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Siemens) and HMI/SCADA development.

• Strong experience with industrial robotics programming and integration (e.g. Fanuc KUKA ABB).

• Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g. Ethernet/IP Profinet Modbus).

• Experience with vision systems (e.g. Cognex Keyence) is highly desirable.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel skills.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems and identify root causes of issues.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
