Position Summary:

The Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a full-time Instructor position within our Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Master of Social Work (MSW) and Doctor of Social Work (DSW) programs. This is a 12-month non-tenure-track faculty appointment designed for an educator committed to excellence in teaching student engagement and professional service.

The successful candidate will primarily support instructional needs across the Schools academic programs through teaching responsibilities on the Boca Raton and Davie campuses as well as in online learning environments. Faculty are expected to contribute to a collaborative and student-centered academic community that values innovation in teaching interdisciplinary engagement and community partnerships.

The position includes responsibilities related to curriculum delivery student mentoring participation in School and University service activities and collaboration with faculty and staff to support programmatic growth and student success. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to high-quality instruction across diverse learning modalities and populations while contributing to the continued advancement of the Schools mission and strategic priorities.

About the School:

The Sandler School of Social Work is housed within Florida Atlantic Universitys College of Social Work and Criminal Justice and serves a dynamic and growing student population that includes more than 500 BSW students and over 400 MSW students across traditional and online learning formats. The School also offers a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program the first of its kind in the State of Florida designed to prepare advanced practitioners and leaders in higher education administration and clinical practice.

As part of a nationally recognized public research university the Sandler School continues to expand its academic programs interdisciplinary collaborations research initiatives and community partnerships throughout South Florida and beyond. Faculty are actively engaged in teaching scholarship workforce development and community-based initiatives that address complex social challenges and strengthen partnerships with schools healthcare systems behavioral health organizations nonprofit agencies and government entities.

The Sandler School of Social Work is home to several centers and institutes that support research training interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement across South Florida and beyond. These initiatives provide faculty and students with opportunities to engage in applied research workforce development policy initiatives and community-based partnerships addressing complex social challenges across the lifespan.

The School includes the Child Welfare Institute which advances education training and research initiatives focused on child welfare and family support systems; the Healthy Aging Academy which promotes interdisciplinary approaches to aging wellness and quality of life for older adults; the Robin Rubin Center for Happiness and Life Enhancement which supports research and programming focused on well-being resilience and positive human development; and the Center for Integrated Recovery and Wellness Studies which advances recovery-oriented research behavioral health initiatives and integrated approaches to wellness and community care. These centers and institutes strengthen the Schools commitment to innovation community impact and collaborative partnerships while expanding opportunities for faculty engagement student involvement grant activity and interdisciplinary scholarship.

Primary Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate and graduate social work courses within the BSW MSW and DSW programs across face-to-face hybrid and online learning environments.

Provide high-quality instruction on the Boca Raton and Davie campuses as well as through the Schools online programs.

Develop revise and maintain course materials syllabi assignments and instructional activities that align with CSWE accreditation standards and University policies.

Support student learning academic success and professional development through mentoring advising and timely communication.

Contribute to School College and University service activities including committee participation faculty meetings recruitment events and community engagement initiatives.

Collaborate with faculty staff and practicum education teams to support student placement retention and experiential learning opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
Minimum of two years of post-MSW professional experience
Experience teaching in higher education


Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Florida
