Maintenance Electrician 1

Position Summary:

Maintains electrical systems apparatus and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment by performing the following duties.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Includes the following although other duties may be assigned -

• Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers motors and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
• Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction and make required repairs.
• Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as relays switches and motors and positions sensing devices.
• Troubleshoot and maintain electrical control systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair all AC and DC motors and controls pressure sensing devices voltage current and resistance measurement devices.
• Troubleshoot and repair plant lighting 480V 207V and 110V circuits; 480V cranes; PLC based controls and relay logic circuits.
• Monitor furnace status and light furnaces.
• Trains and oversees electrical projects as directed by supervisory personnel.

Required Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of Company.
• Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematic DWG.

Experience & Education

• Five to seven years related experience and/or training equivalent to a journeyman rating in a manufacturing environment.
• State-approved electrical apprenticeship program (California DIR recognized) OR Associate degree / technical certificate in Electrical Technology Industrial Maintenance Mechatronics or similar subject
• California Certified Electrician (Must be current and in good standing)
