About the Team

TheMobileforDevelopment (M4D) team drives innovation in digital technology to reduce inequalities in our world. Singularly positioned at the intersection of the mobile ecosystem and the development sector we stimulate digital innovation to deliver both sustainable business and large-scale socio-economic impact for the underserved.

The GSMA Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation (M4H)programmeworks to accelerate the delivery and impact of digital humanitarianassistance. This is achieved by building a learning and research agenda to inform the future of digital humanitarian responsecatalysingpartnershipsand innovation for new digital humanitarian services advocating for enabling policy environmentsmonitoringand evaluating performancedisseminatinginsights and profiling achievements.

The GSMAClimateTech/Digital Utilitiesprogrammeworks on innovative financing structures that combine commercial and impact-oriented capital to scale climate technologies as well as supporting urban resilience by enabling access to essential utility services inlow- and middle-incomecountries (LMICs). This is achieved through thought leadership strongpolicyand advocacy work.

Theprogrammesaresupported by FCDO and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

About the Role

The Assistant Operations Manager role will be an exciting opportunityfor an individual with a passion forinternational development and the role of digitalinnovation indrivingsocio-economic impact for the underserved.

You will workacross two programmes(M4H andClimateTech/Digital Utilities)as part ofthe Operations teamsupportingthe effective planning coordination and deliveryof programmeactivities.

The role reports to the Senior Operations Manager(M4H) who leads on operational management of theMobile for Humanitarian Innovationteam across delivery reporting (including donor reporting)and business planning.You willwork closely withprogramme teamsas well as colleagues acrossthe wider M4Dincludingcompliance/finance legal HRmarketingandsubject matter experts.

As an Assistant Operations Manager you willbe responsible forthe following:

  • Assist the Senior Operations Managerstotrack and report on deliverables and KPIs

  • Supportthe preparation ofmonthlyprogrammeinternalreports and quarterly and annualprogrammedonorreporting

  • Maintainprogrammerisk issue and lessons learned logsensuringtimelyescalation where

  • Assistwithprogrammeactivityplanningandmaintainprogrammesworkplanstracking

  • Supportend-to-end procurementprocessesincludingsupplieronboardingcontracting purchase ordersand invoice management in collaborationwith the Finance team

  • Coordinateeventplanning andlogisticsincludingsourcingand bookingvenuesand liaising withprogrammeteams and marketing

  • Managetravel trackingandmaintainorganisedshared filing systemsi.e.SharePoint

  • Any other dutiescommensuratewith level as requested by the Senior Operations Managers

About You

The ideal candidate willdemonstratethe following skills andexperience:

  • Demonstrable operationsand projectmanagement experienceideallywithindonor-funded projects
  • Strongorganisationalandplanningskillwith ability to manage multiplepriorities acrossdifferentprogrammes

  • Experiencesupportingbudgetingforecastingandfinancial processes

  • Proventrack recordintracking and reportingonprojectactivities

  • Strongstakeholder managementskills includingthe ability to work effectivelyacross teams and manage upwards

  • Flexibility and ability toadapt torespondtochanging requirementsand priorities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team supporting other team members in a busy global environment across several different geographical locations

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • ProficiencyusingMS Office(i.e.WordExcelPowerPoint Teams) andexperience withprojectorgrant managementsystems

  • An interest in international development and/or social enterprises in emerging markets

This is a hands-on rolerequiringa pro-activeself-motivatedindividualwho can workindependentlyandcollaborate effectively to support programme success.
