Your role and responsibilities
As a Teacher in theAlternative Tuition Service you will:
- work with pupils 1-to-1 or in groups sometimes in their homes to plan and deliver blended learning via Microsoft Teams.
- work with a team of specialist teachers who have the knowledge and significant experience in working with a range of pupils with special educational and emotional needs.
- model positive attitudes and relationships to young people and establish a caring safe and stimulating environment for teaching and learning.
- establish and maintain good working relationships with other professionals within your work and with parents/carers and Local Authoritystaff.
- respond to the issues that may be affecting the young peoples ability to access the curriculum and support them appropriately.
This role is mainly based in the community; however you may also have the opportunity to work from home occasionally and you will have an office base. If you wish to discuss how that might impact your working arrangements please contact the recruiting manager listed below.
You will need
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A strong commitment to social inclusion and equality of opportunity.
- The ability to inspire pupils to achieve their full potential.
- To be resilient selfmotivated creative and flexible in your approach.
- Experience as a competent teacher working with vulnerable pupils.
- Knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with a range of special educational and emotional needs.
- Experience of managing potentially challenging behaviour.
- Experience of working in a specialist setting is desirable but not essential.

The team
Our service works with vulnerable children and young people who are medically unable to attend school have been permanently excluded or are awaiting a specialist placement.
You will be joining a dynamic and committed team of inspirational staff who provide a highquality educational offer to pupils with a wide range of needs often complex. You will need to be flexible creative and resilient with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of the wider team.
The Alternative Tuition Service is a supportive and highly collaborative team of experienced teachers who place pupil needs and voices at the heart of everything they do ensuring each child receives an inclusive and personalised learning experience.
