Job Summary

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Manager Transition - ATL the Specialist Program Management is responsible to support activities related to recycling operations including collection and post-collection services regulated under Provincial Extended Producer Responsibility legislation in Atlantic Canada. The Specialist primary focus will be to ensure contract terms and industry practices outlined by Circular Materials are clearly communicated understood and followed in the field resulting in greater overall efficiency and effectiveness and leading to increased collection and diversion of recyclable materials.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide in-field training and support for service providers including working with municipalities and private contractors.
  2. Develop a deep understanding of contractual performance requirements for collection and post-collection operations.
  3. Develop a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements associated with Extended Producer Responsibility legislation in Atlantic Canada.
  4. Monitor and track operations across Atlantic Canada including completing site visits and inspections data tracking contamination tracking and mitigation plans site usage and volumes for rationalization purposes and feedback for Communications and Marketing.
  5. Gather and analyze best practices and make recommendations on how these best practices can be incorporated into the collection and post collection network in Atlantic Canada.
  6. Develop and implement standard operating procedures facility inspection procedures and other similar documents.
  7. Develop performance requirements for collection and post-collection operations including drafting statement of work requirements and tender documents.
  8. Support service provider reporting including coordinating with other teams responsible for the administrative and financial aspects of service delivery.
  9. Prepare accurate timely and data driven reports as required.
  10. Working with service providers oversee lead and/or participate in (as appropriate) activities such as bale audits and waste composition studies that aim to improve the performance of waste diversion activities in the areas of material collection transportation processing and materials marketing.
  11. Monitor CMs relationships with contracted service providers to identify risks and anticipate and resolve issues.
  12. Collaborate with the National Operations team on areas of continuous improvement.
  13. Other duties asmaybe requiredfromtime-to-time including attendance at events and third-party meetings as necessary.
  14. Develop an understanding of material quality auditing processes and procedures as established by CM.
  15. Support Material Quality staff as required. This may include covering for the position during vacation including overseeing on-site audit work.
  16. Supervise and support special project as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  1. Post-secondary education related to environmental studies business/program administration engineering tech or related discipline and/or related experience.


Experience

  1. 2- 5 years experience in operations of recycling programs waste management or related roles.
  2. Continuing education and professional development in communications data management or project management is an asset.
  3. Direct experience or knowledge of PPP recycling programs stewardship programs or related field is beneficial.
  4. Direct experience or knowledge in contract development and contract management is beneficial.


Knowledge/Competencies/Skills

  1. Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment where change growth and innovation are a constant.
  2. Experience working in a complex multi-faceted environment with several competing priorities.
  3. Ability to conduct detailed analysis and provide summaries and recommendations.
  4. Knowledge of waste management materials management commodity markets andlogisticsor related operational business activities.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 including Excel SharePoint and Teams.
  6. Excellent attention to detail analytical problem solving planning and execution skills.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communications skills which can build relationships with external stakeholders internal CM teams and at all levels in the CM organizational structure.
  8. Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively create and implement project plans.



WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Hours

  • This is a full-time position working hours 40 hours per work week. Typical work hours occur Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm within home time zone with schedule flexibility required to provide for working across time zones and extended working hours to meet deadlines.
  • This role will require coordinating and/or meeting with internal and external stakeholders in multiple Canadian time zones.
  • This role requires a flexible work schedule with periods of uneven workload.
  • Extra or flexible hours will be required on occasion.

Remote and/or Field Work

  • Remote and Field Work is required.
  • Remote working environment with the ability to travel as needed.


Travel

  • Requires travel within Atlantic Canada to meet with collection transportation and processing partners and conduct site inspections.
  • A valid drivers license is required.


PAY TRANSPARENCY

Expected Compensation:

  • An annual base salary in the range of $70000 to $80000
