PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The P-TECH & AVID Coordinator provides districtwide leadership for the design implementation and continuous improvement of the Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) and AVID programs. This role ensures that students are equipped with academic and professional skills to earn an Associate Degree and transition into high-wage high-demand careers while maintaining full compliance with the TEA P-TECH Blueprint.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Bachelors degree in education (Masters degree is highly preferred).
Knowledge & Skills
Deep understanding of the TEA P-TECH Blueprint and Objective-Based Measures (OBMs).
Knowledge of AVID WICOR strategies (Writing Inquiry Collaboration Organization Reading).
Strong communication collaboration and leadership skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Instructional Leadership & AVID Implementation
Lead the campus AVID Site Team to implement WICOR strategies school-wide.
Ensure high-fidelity implementation of the AVID elective and elective standards.
Lead professional development for staff regarding P-TECH expectations and AVID instructional strategies.
Coach teachers on integrating college-readiness standards into Tier 1 instruction.
P-TECH Program Design & Implementation
Manage the P-TECH program to ensure it meets all TEA Objective-Based Measures (OBMs).
Oversee the Health Science Pathway to ensure students are on track for Associate Degree completion.
Collaborate with Academics to ensure P-TECH and AVID goals are embedded in curriculum and instructional resources.
Develop a CTE Completer Scope & Sequence to improve Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs).
Partnerships & Work-Based Learning
Establish and maintain Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with Institutes of Higher Education (IHE).
Develop regional industry partnerships to provide students with work-based learning and internships.
Serve as a resource for the National Academy Foundation (NAF) partnership and steering committee.
Program Coordination & Compliance
Coordinate student recruitment campaigns and manage scheduling with high school counselors.
Maintain accurate confidential and compliant records for P-TECH students.
Monitor expenditures and assist in writing TEA instructional and workforce-related grants.
Family & Community Engagement
Act as a liaison with families to support engagement in P-TECH and college-readiness programs.
Represent the program at district community and stakeholder meetings.
