JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates and supports high school real world career connected learning opportunities in collaboration with school staff and industry partners. Oversees the logistical and operational components of assigned real world learning programs including partner coordination student placement tracking documentation and compliance requirements. Works closely with Crew Advisors to support internship implementation communication with workplace mentors and alignment with established program expectations. Leverages the Local Needs Assessment to develop and maintain industry and community partnerships and supports grant related activities reporting and compliance. This position and continued employment are contingent upon the availability of funding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with school staff students industry and community partners and other stakeholders to coordinate and support the implementation of career connected learning opportunities including apprenticeships employer driven capstones internships and school based enterprises.
  • Develops maintains and serves as a point of contact for industry and community partnerships to sustain and expand career connected learning opportunities aligned with local workforce needs and student career interests.
  • Coordinates the approval and monitoring of internship and apprenticeship sites to ensure a safe work environment committed mentorship and alignment with students six-year plans and career goals and communicates site information to Crew Advisors and school leadership as appropriate.
  • Supports grant related activities including assisting with identifying funding opportunities and maintaining required documentation reporting and compliance.
  • Collaborates with Crew Advisors and other school staff to support student identification preparation and participation in career connected learning experiences.
  • Facilitates the preparation distribution and collection of required career connected learning documentation including quarterly evaluations and student/parent/mentor agreements.
  • Collects tracks maintains and reports career connected learning program and participation data for monitoring reporting and continuous improvement purposes.
  • Coordinates and monitors required student safety requirements related to career connected learning placements including background checks and review of the Registered Sex Offender website and notifies appropriate personnel of concerns in accordance with established procedures.
  • Promotes awareness of career connected learning programs and opportunities within the school and broader community through outreach and informational activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Experience

  • Two (2) years related experience in building business partnerships workforce development career-technical education and/or youth development required.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Other Characteristics

  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with all stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with various software programs.
  • Knowledge of current trends and research in the field on internships apprenticeships and careers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in the design implementation and evaluation of career connected learning programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare clear reports and deliver effective presentations
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively promote programs and opportunities to students industry partners and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians with varied communication styles levels of skill and experience to support their students educational experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Strong skills in written communication and public speaking to convey information clearly to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing Microsoft Office Suite -Word Excel Outlook and/or PowerPoint preferred).

Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses certifications and enrollment as a condition of employment.

  • Hold or be eligible for Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) issued by National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for Drivers License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.

Driving Requirements

  • Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.

CAREER LADDER REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements for Employment in Higher Grade as a New Hire or Transfer requires:

  • Two (2) additional years successful experience required.
  • Achievement of Professional Certification or Certificate in Workforce Development or Completion of training program required.

Eligibility for Consideration for Advancement from Lower Grade to Higher Grade requires:

  • Two (2) years continuous successful experience in the position at the Lower Grade level.
  • Mastery of all responsibilities and duties of the position.
  • Evidence of completion of additional training that may be recommended by supervisor and/or participation in approved professional development programs or courses approved in advance by the supervisor. Successful completion of a minimum of one professional development within the last two years is required. Successful completion of job specific professional developments identified on the job description performance evaluations and/or the supervisors documented recommendation are required.
  • Achievement of identified goals as they relate to the needs of the district and as established by the supervisor.
  • Consistent maintenance of an effective and orderly work environment.
  • Consistent compliance with general office procedures such as standards contained in the AACPS Employee Handbook; demonstration of discretion and excellent customer service; regular and punctual attendance; and building dress code including wearing AACPS ID badge.
  • Above Satisfactory overall job performance for the two most recent consecutive years of Probationary and Performance Ratings. Probationary Ratings completed after January 2 2024 will be accepted.
  • Letter of Recommendation written by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements for Advancement from Lower Grade to Higher Grade requires:

  • Achievement of Professional Certification or Certificate in Workforce Development or Completion of training program required.
