DURATION: 4 months
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
HR Data & Systems Support Fellow Data Cleansing and Analytics
WFPs HRMOI Branch is strengthening HR data quality analytics readiness and system adoption as part of its global HR Capabilities and Systems strategy. A core component of this effort is the ongoing HR data cleansing and standardization exercise across Workday and related systems.
This assignment provides hands-on support to HRMOI teams by assisting with data validation cleansing activities systematic error analysis documentation of recurring issues and preparation of data quality insights. The role is designed as a junior / entry-level support position offering strong exposure to enterprise HR systems HR data governance and digital HR transformation in a supervised environment.
The assignment contributes directly to:
- Improved HR master data quality
- Payroll readiness and accuracy
- HR capabilities system adoption and user enablement
- Foundational data for people analytics and reporting
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. HR Data Cleansing & Analysis (Primary Focus)
- Support HRMOI teams in reviewing validating and cleaning HR data across Workday and connected systems (e.g. SAP HR PASport UNDP as applicable)
- Assist in compiling and analyzing HR datasets to identify inconsistencies missing values and recurring data quality issues
- Produce basic data analysis outputs (lists error patterns summary statistics trend observations) to support decision-making
- Follow established data standards validation rules and cleansing procedures under guidance
2. Data Quality Controls & Documentation
- Contribute to the documentation of recurring data errors root causes and corrective actions
- Assist in preparing simple guidelines checklists or reference materials for HR users to reduce repeat errors
- Support the maintenance of data quality trackers and logs
3. User Support & Enablement (Supervised)
- Support HRMOI in responding to basic HR system queries related to data corrections and standard procedures
- Assist with the preparation of training materials or user guidance related to data accuracy and correct system usage
- Escalate complex functional or policy issues to senior HR or HRIS colleagues
4. Contribution to HR Capabilities & Systems Adoption
- Support HR Capabilities initiatives by contributing data insights that highlight process gaps knowledge gaps or training needs
- Assist in linking data issues to system usage patterns and potential improvement areas
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities related to HR data governance and system adoption
5. Other
- Perform other related duties as required under supervision
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
By the end of the assignment the incumbent will have contributed to:
- Cleaned and validated datasets supporting payroll and HR reporting
- Data quality issue logs and summary analyses
- Documentation of common data errors and corrective actions
- Draft user guidance or support materials related to data entry and validation
- Analytical inputs supporting HR Capabilities and system adoption activities
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education
Masters and PhD students or graduates researchers or professors (Please specify here the preferred fields of study) Bachelors or Masters degree (ongoing or completed) in Statistics Data Science Economics Engineering Information Systems Computer Science or related fields
Academic or internship experience in:
-Data analysis statistics or quantitative methods
- Data processing using tools such as Python R SQL Excel or similar
- Exposure to information systems datasets or structured data environments is an asset
Knowledge & Skills
Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
Ability to work with datasets and follow structured procedures
Basic proficiency in Excel; experience with Python/R/SQL is an advantage
Willingness to learn HR processes and enterprise systems
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a multicultural team-oriented environment
Languages
Fluency in English (Level C). Intermediate knowledge of any other official UN language (French Spanish Arabic Chinese Russian or Portuguese) is an asset. (Please specify here additional requirements at the duty station) Italian Portuguese or Spanish beneficial
