Looking for a fun active seasonal job The City of Medford Facilities Management Department is hiring a Fountain & Splash Pad Attendant to help keep our fountains and splash pads safe clean and ready for the community to enjoy.
As a Fountain & Splash Pad Attendant youll play an important role in the daily care operation maintenance and overall upkeep of these public amenities. If you like hands-on work staying active being outdoors and taking pride in keeping things running smoothly this could be a great opportunity for you!
Required Education and Experience:- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Must be 18 years of age by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:- Working knowledge of fountain and splash pad maintenance.
- General knowledge of building maintenance and plumbing.
AdditionalEligibilityRequirements:
Ability to:- Learn aquatic systems and chemical testing procedures associated with fountain and splash pad systems.
- Work independently without continuous supervision.
- Conform with all safety rules and perform work in a safe manner.
- Operate pressure washers and back-pack leaf blowers.
- Perform physical labor safely in all types of local weather.
- Work with and around the public in a positive manner.
- Demonstrate good attention to detail.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrate excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Establish maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Possess a valid drivers license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon drivers license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
- Maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
- Successfully complete a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.
Available Schedules:
- Seasonal (up to 6 months): Up to 40 hours per week
- Sunday - Wednesday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Wednesday - Saturday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Compensation & Information on Benefits
The anticipated hiring range for thePool & Splash Pad Attendantposition is $18.36(first step) to $19.28or $20.24(secondor third step).The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education experience andqualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.Threesteps are included in this salary range allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Examples of Job Duties
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Daily preparation of fountains and splash pads.
- Assure fountains and splash pads are functional during all hours of operation.
- Assist Building Utility Technicians on fountain and splash pad operation and repair; as well as general building maintenance repairs; and working out of the department maintenance shop on special projects.
- Restore the correct water levels and chemical balance for fountains and splash pads.
- Assist with maintaining and repairing fountain and splash pad equipment including filters pumps and chlorinators.
- Complete designated job tasks special projects and all other duties as assigned to meet team department and City goals while working cooperatively efficiently and productively in a team environment.
- Actively demonstrate high levels of employee engagement accountability coachability and responsibility for personal performance and results.
- Demonstrate initiative to incorporate and implement learning principles from informal and formal training as well as feedback from leaders and co-workers.
- Drive City vehicle to various locations to perform work.
- Report major equipment faults to supervisor.
- Maintain records of fountain and splash pad supplies such as cleaning chemicals.
