This is a 12 month fixed term position.

About the Role:

The Connected Beginnings Caseworker is responsible for providing support to the integrating family and child health services with existing local early childhood and family support services to increase the number of healthier and well prepared children for school.

The key objectives of the role include:

  • Coordinating parent-child health programs for children between the aged of 0m 5years and child health nurse sessions for infants and mother
  • Facilitating support playgroups
  • Supporting the delivery of individual-family case coordination and group programs that focus on primary health care and holistic family well-being support
  • Improving school-readiness and educational engagement outcomes.
  • Increasing and supporting early engagement and access to early childhood and health services.
  • Developing relationships with organisations to form clearly outlined pathways to access referral pathways and cross-program workings which will place key outcomes and clients needs at the centre of operations.
  • Ensuring services are delivered in line with established Biripi policies and procedures and in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Participation with relation to having a holistic approach to early childhood strategies and initiatives.
  • Building capacity and resilience within the Aboriginal parents and children at risk
  • Support with the coordination of parent-child health programs targeting the discreet key early childhood developmental domains; pre-natal early infancy (0-6m) late infancy (6-12m) 1-2yrs 2-3yrs and pre-school years (3-5yrs).
  • Support with the delivery of individual-family case coordination and group programs that focus on primary health care and holistic family well-being support.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve school-readiness and educational engagement outcomes.
  • Coordinate child health nurse sessions for infants and mothers.

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood social work community services Primary Health or related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge skills and experience in early childhood.
  • Sound knowledge of community health public health and Aboriginal Health.
  • Experience working with child protection agencies non-government organisations community groups and medical professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to build relationships with all levels of the organisation and the community.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands.
  • Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including National Police Check and Working with Children clearance.
  • Current valid Drivers license minimum of Class C or equivalent
