ABOUT US:

Yorgum was established in 1991 by a group of Aboriginal women some of whom worked in womens refuges who were concerned about the lack of appropriate counselling support for Aboriginal people experiencing spiritual emotional and psychological pain. They founded a service with a healingapproach rather than an ongoing crisis-driven patch-up approach.

Yorgum offers all Aboriginal people and their families autonomous community-based healing services that are culturally secure trauma-informed and work within an Aboriginal Family Worldview.

The Role:

This position is responsible forproviding case management and support to the Stolen Generation(s) clients andtheir families who have been institutionalised adopted and fostered through pastgovernment removal policies.

SELECTION Criteria:

To be considered for the role you will be able to demonstrate thefollowing experience and abilities:

IV qualification i.e. Mental healthsocial and emotional wellbeing or related discipline or significant experiencein a related field.

case management skills with the experienceand knowledge of family separation and the stolen generation(s).

organisational and time managementskills.

ability to work independently and as ateam member.

written and verbal communicationskills.

experience with Microsoft Office anddatabase applications.

understanding of the Aboriginal Termsof Reference and cultural competency.

able to travel as required.
