Capability Support is a provider of services to people living in the community. Capability was founded on the premise that we can do better for people living with disability children youth and families in the community by providing flexible personalised high quality and professional supports.
Capability provides Therapeutic Contact and Transport Early Intervention Supports Alternate Care / Residential Type Therapeutic Supports and Respite to Children and Young People with varied needs including some with behaviours that present as complex.
About the role
Our People and Performance Manager (PPM) plays an integral role in ensuring that Capability Support continues to deliver personalised trauma-informed and professional services that improve the lives of people that we support. We achieve this by embedding evidence-based frameworks to inform deliver and improve our services; as well as actively and systematically seeking acting and reflecting on feedback from clients staff and stakeholders.
Reporting to the Director Quality Risk and Compliance the PPM works closely and in partnership with Capability Supports Key Management Personnel and organisational leaders to ensure we continue to meet and build upon our high quality standards. They provide a foundation upon which to support Capabilitys high quality performance and culture across its operations. The PPM worksclosely with organisational leaders to identify measure and evaluate current emerging and future human resource needs and priorities.
The PPMM is responsible for the people processes and systems strategies which influence performance and culture within Capability. They are expected to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Capabilitys practices that align with our corporate plan and legislative and regulatory obligations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Guiding and influencing robust and defensible human resource-related decisions
- Drive higher levels of organisational maturity through the design and implementationof a workforce strategy
- Contribute to the development of the culture for actively and proactively meeting high performance expectations across Capabilitys operations
- Develop a vision for performance and cultural uplift within legal regulatory and ethical boundaries and which supports Capability achieve strategic business goals
- Identify manage and provide advice on human resource-related performance and culture needs and priorities in collaboration with operational teams
- Support the design development and implementation of systems tools and processes thatachieve quality and compliant outcomes for:
- People and performance management at all levels
- Relevant regulatory reporting and audit obligations
- Formal standards and regulatory codes appropriate to Capabilitys needs
- Continuous business improvement and operational performance
- Any other business need
- Ensure the end-to-end recruitment retention performance and separation frameworks and functions are proportionate to the scale and complexity of Capabilitys operations
- Support the development of policies and procedures throughout the organisation that reflectthe scale and complexity of Capabilitys operations
- Engage with external stakeholders from regulatory and oversight bodies including qualityauditors compliance reviewers and others when required
- Undertake continuous reviews of Capabilitys human resource-related policies and frameworks to ensure they are fit for purpose
- Provide collaborative advice and guidance to staff at all levels on performance toachieve high quality outcomes against a range of regulatory standards and legislation including in relation to:
- Support services provided by Capability
- National Employment Standards
- Working Conditions (including in relation to the SCHADS and HPSS Awards)
- Work Health and Safety (WHS)
- Provide advice guidance and practical assistance to managers and supervisors on human-resource-related matters where required and in a manner that emphasises continuous learning and embracing opportunities with a particular focus on:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for employee concerns
- Managing workplace conflict and facilitating resolution
- Ensuring a positive inclusive and compliant workplace culture
- Coaching managers on feedback and performance conversations
- Identifying performance issues and supporting improvement plans
- Leading wellbeing programs and support initiatives
- Coordinating workplace injury management and returntowork processes
- Oversee and support the work of the Quality Officer Onboarding and Reporting
Key Requirements
Essential:
- Relevant vocational or tertiary qualifications (Human Resources Industrial Relations Business etc) or equivalent experience
- Deep understanding of people management principles
- Comprehensive understanding of the operations of the entity and the entitys purpose
- Ability to challenge decisions that may affect the ability of the entity to achieve its purpose and objectives
- Ability to develop and promote a vision for performance and culture that adds value
- Possess good judgement regarding key human-resource-related risks to an entity and those that require focused attention
- Facilitate and promote an environment whereby informed risk-based decision making can occur including by fostering a positive risk culture and the ability to influence others
- Sensitive to the complexities and relationships with stakeholders
- Exemplify and model integrity ethics values and the desired cultural behaviours
- Innovative and bring a holistic and objective lens to decision-making conversations
- Communicate complex matters with clarity and succinctness and in easy to understand formats and communication methods
- Committed to developing the capability of the entity to harness opportunities through effective performance and culture
- Current Working with Vulnerable People registration or capacity to gain this
- Current CYF clearance or capacity to gain this
- Current Police Check or capacity to achieve this
- Current drivers licence
- Roadworthy registered and insured vehicle
Highly desirable:
- Awareness of trauma-informed care approaches and the impact of vicarious trauma
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
