Summary
Assists in implementing Occupational Medicine clinic workflows within the scope of a Paramedic license including immunizations testing vaccination updates drug screens alcohol testing blood draws and other occupational health procedures. This role involves a collaborative relationship with other medical professionals on staff and APPs and providers focusing on preventative care and efficient medical management in occupational health settings to maintain employee health and productivity.Job Description
Provides initial medical assessment and care for work-related injuries and illnesses to help prevent unnecessary hospital visits. Utilizes the paramedic process of assessment diagnosis planning implementation and evaluation to deliver individualized care under physician thorough and accurate documentation of patient interactions treatments and regulatory information including work accidents injuries and exposure records to support employer and OSHA compliance. Collaborates with occupational health nurses safety specialists and other team members to promote a safe work environment and support adherence to health and safety employee health and wellness initiatives including screenings education and injury prevention activities. Coordinates patient care needs such as scheduling visits and procedures completing pre-visit calls gathering and reviewing charts assisting physicians and nurses during clinical encounters managing patient admission processes and arranging follow-up diagnostic studies or appointments. Observes records and communicates patient conditions and treatment responses to the supervising strong communication with physicians and facilities to relay patient status and obtain medical direction. Completes detailed written documentation and follows all legal ethical and professional standards. Ensures examination areas are properly prepared between patients and may coordinate certain diagnostic or specialty clinic scheduling. Works collaboratively with the broader health care team to support holistic patient effective communication skills to collaborate problem solve and resolve issues with colleagues patients and families. Demonstrates strong clinical reasoning and critical thinking to assess data and respond appropriately to changing situations. Performs patient assessment triage education coordination of care and other paramedic-level clinical requirements include frequent use of arms legs and full body movement such as lifting walking climbing stooping and handling materials. Participates in ongoing training to maintain national certification state licensure and current knowledge within the field.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred. Completion of an accredited Paramedic Training Program required for licensing.Hold national registry status at a Paramedic level. Additional training provided/workshops and staff meetings are to be attended as per on state requirements individuals may need to have a state license. Additional licensures as required dependingupon state; Paramedic (PAR) Certification National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) Incident Command System(ICS)and 800 completed and continued education hours as mandated by accreditation. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent advanced version for paramedics International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred depending on location. Based on facility needs must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers.
