Join VMIA as a Senior System Architect and play a key role in designing developing and enhancing enterprise applications on the Pega Platform. Working within a collaborative and innovative IT environment you will lead technical delivery mentor development teams and help shape scalable solutions that support VMIAs core insurance risk and client engagement platforms. About the role

As a Senior System Architect you will analyse design develop and support VMIA systems and applications primarily built on the Pega Platform. You will play a key role in ensuring application quality scalability and long-term sustainability delivering solutions that meet current business requirements while enabling future enhancements and innovation.

You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle leading application architecture design configuration development testing and deployment activities. This role also provides technical leadership and mentorship to development teams while supporting VMIAs commitment to risk management compliance and operational excellence.

Reporting to the Principal Architect Pega Application Development within the IT Division you will help drive the delivery and continuous improvement of VMIAs core insurance risk and client engagement platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse design develop test and implement applications and configurations on the Pega Platform.

  • Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle ensuring robust and scalable technical solutions.

  • Conduct unit integration and system testing to support high-quality application delivery across QA and production environments.

  • Design and maintain configuration management procedures aligned with industry best practices and quality standards.

  • Review and present architecture and application designs to the Architecture and Design Review Board.

  • Monitor system functionality track defects and coordinate issue resolution with internal teams and external vendors.

  • Perform system health checks and implement both short-term fixes and long-term improvements.

  • Lead and mentor developers fostering collaboration accountability and technical excellence within the team.

  • Support structured delivery processes using Agile DevOps CI/CD QA Change and Release Management methodologies.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies compliance requirements and best practices in insurance data management and application development.

  • Contribute to strategic and operational decision-making through continuous learning innovation and professional development.

  • Promote a safe inclusive and high-performing workplace culture while supporting governance compliance and risk management practices.

Who you work with

You will work closely with VMIAs IT team and Project Delivery Team to develop deliver and continuously improve the organisations Core Insurance Risk and Client Engagement Platform (Client360). You will collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders across Service Delivery Insurance Services the Client Advisory Team Renewal Project Team and Risk Advisers to ensure business and technical needs are aligned. Externally you will engage with third-party software vendors and IT consultancy partners to support the successful delivery of cost-effective high-quality technology solutions.

  • We are seeking a collaborative and technically strong Senior System Architect with deep expertise in the Pega Platform and a passion for delivering high-quality enterprise applications. You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment demonstrates accountability and enjoys mentoring and leading development teams.

  • You will bring strong problem-solving capabilities a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders. Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments combined with a proactive approach to innovation quality and risk management will be critical to your success in this role.

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate VMIAs core capabilities particularly in innovation and continuous improvement driving accountability and results digital literacy communication and client engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical discipline.

  • Minimum 8 years experience supporting software development initiatives.

  • Minimum 5 years experience working specifically as a Pega System Architect or Developer.

  • Pega Certified Senior System Architect certification (or equivalent).

  • Strong experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis design implementation testing and deployment.

  • Advanced knowledge of PRPC architecture workflows rules classes templates streams data pages activities and UI development.

  • Hands-on experience with Pega 8.X platforms and supporting tools such as Agile Studio and Deployment Manager.

  • Experience with Pega CRM and Insurance Strategic Applications is highly desirable.

Salary Information

At VMIA we offer competitive salaries based on the roles classification and your skills and experience. Typically new employees start at the minimum of the salary range however consideration may be given to starting above the minimum of the band should you demonstrate extensive experience in a similar role or possess unique and desirable skills and capabilities required to perform the role.
