Logistics Co-Ordinator
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: 33000
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 17:15 fully onsite
ACS Staffing Solutions are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Logistics Co-Ordinator on behalf of our client based in Milton Keynes.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and commercially minded logistics professional with strong experience across international freight customs compliance and export documentation. The successful candidate will take ownership of end-to-end logistics operations across UK and international markets ensuring shipments are delivered accurately compliantly and on time.
The role would suit an individual with strong hands-on experience across international shipping operations customs procedures and freight coordination who enjoys working within a fast-paced and detail-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Freight & Distribution
- Coordinate and manage international shipments across road sea and air freight
- Manage domestic European and global distribution activity
- Create and validate commercial invoices ensuring accuracy across:
- Commodity codes (HS codes)
- Country of Origin (COO)
- Customs values
- Incoterms
- Freight and insurance details
- Manage export declaration processes and customs documentation
- Operate Chamber of Commerce portals for Certificates of Origin and document legalisation
- Liaise with freight forwarders and carrier platforms including UPS and DHL
- Compare freight rates negotiate costs and optimise delivery performance
- Ensure correct application of Incoterms across all shipments
Customs Compliance & Regulatory Control
- Calculate and verify customs duties VAT and associated charges
- Ensure accurate commodity code assignment and customs compliance
- Maintain Country of Origin documentation for imports and exports
- Monitor international trade regulations and customs legislation
- Act as the key point of contact for customs-related queries and escalations
- Manage post-Brexit UKEU customs procedures and border documentation
- Ensure ongoing compliance with EORI customs valuation and trade requirements
Dangerous Goods & Reverse Logistics
- Coordinate dangerous goods shipments including lithium-ion batteries
- Ensure compliance with IATA IMDG and ADR regulations
- Manage returned goods processes and customs re-import documentation
- Maintain accurate inventory reconciliation processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production Planning to align shipment schedules
- Liaise with Sales Purchasing Finance and Customer Service teams
- Review freight invoices and resolve discrepancies
- Provide updates regarding delivery schedules freight costs and customs implications
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain full shipment traceability from order through to delivery
- Monitor and report on logistics KPIs including:
- On-time delivery
- Freight cost efficiency
- Documentation accuracy
- Proof of Export and Delivery
- Challenge logistics suppliers and freight providers to improve commercial terms and reduce costs
- Support continuous improvement across logistics and supply chain operations
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience within logistics freight forwarding shipping or supply chain coordination
- Strong hands-on knowledge of international shipping and customs processes
- Experience exporting to Far East and Middle East markets
- Strong understanding of:
- Commercial invoices
- Export declarations
- Commodity codes
- Country of Origin requirements
- Customs duties
- Incoterms
- Experience using ERP systems and freight forwarder portals
- Knowledge of post-Brexit UKEU customs procedures
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Commercially aware with strong negotiation capability
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment
- Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills
