We are an established service business that has grown largely through the efforts of one key individual. To reduce dependency on a single person and ensure sustainable growth we are hiring a Director of Operations / Business Continuity Manager. This role will help institutionalize knowledge build strong processes and lead our team through the next phase of expansion.

Position Summary

The Director of Operations / Business Continuity Manager oversees daytoday functions while designing systems that allow the business to operate smoothly even when key personnel are unavailable. You will coordinate across departments standardize procedures document critical information and lead crosstraining and succession initiatives. The role reports directly to the owner/CEO and requires both handson operational management and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run daily operations: coordinate activities across sales marketing finance customer service and field teams; assign priorities and monitor performance.
  • Standardize and document processes: develop policies and procedures capture institutional knowledge and ensure critical information is accessible to others.
  • Crosstrain and develop staff: implement programs that teach employees critical skills identify highpotential team members and prepare them to step into key roles.
  • Improve efficiency and profitability: analyze workflows and budgets identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Manage budgets and resources: prepare operating budgets oversee spending track key metrics and collaborate with finance on forecasting.
  • Lead hiring and training: recruit and onboard new employees supervise staff and ensure consistency in training and performance expectations.
  • Maintain relationships: serve as the primary point of contact for vendors clients and partners ensuring reliable service and communication.
  • Develop continuity plans: create transition and contingency plans to keep the business running during absences or turnover and regularly test and update these plans.
  • Support strategic planning: work with the CEO to translate vision into actionable objectives identify growth opportunities and manage change.
Qualifications

  • 5 years of leadership experience in operations management business administration or a related field.
  • Proven ability to design and implement policies procedures and standardized processes across departments.
  • Experience with budgeting forecasting KPI tracking and resource management.
  • Strong communication interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to coordinate crossfunctional teams and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement crosstraining and succession planning.
  • Proficiency with business software (productivity suites project management tools CRM/ERP).
  • Bachelors degree in business operations or related discipline (advanced degree or certifications a plus).
