The Daytona Beach News-Journal is seeking a curious and digitally savvy journalist to fill a critical role as a trending growth and development reporter covering the fast growing areas of Volusia and Flagler counties on the Atlantic coast in northeastern addition to trending news the reporter will focus on all types of commercial and residential development issues as well as the real estate market. They will look at housing redevelopment new and existing businesses community health and demographics in a way that engages our audience and tells readers why these stories are important to reporter must be able to identify trends and hot topics pivot between different topics and consistently produce content that resonates with readers answers their questions and helps grow our reporter must be comfortable using alternative story formats social media video and other tools to supplement traditional story forms. The reporter also will use metrics to understand whats resonating with readers and will be willing to experiment and innovate to reach new audiences. Duties include writing compelling headlines and employing SEO best practices to draw in :Identifies key issues through source development data analysis and document coverage with independent judgment and strategic closely with editors to set priorities and highimpact multiplatform work with a disciplined audience metrics to inform coverage plans and meet reader strong reader service helping audiences find answers and trust and credibility within the coverage :Bachelors degree in communications journalism or an equivalent combination of education and of two years of reporting self-starter and quick thinker who can identify stories that to multitask and perform well in a fast-paced environment under tight to work collaboratively and efficiently with a team of communication skills news judgment and headline-writing interpersonal skills including empathy and in social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook Twitter Threads Instagram TikTok and Reddit with experience engaging readers in this public shooting and editing photos and videos on an writing spelling and grammar skills with knowledge of AP of media law and principles of ethical role requires a valid drivers license reliable transportation and the minimum liability insurance required by state Instructions:We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role.
