Additional Information:
This position requires BOTH a valid WA state teaching/ESA certificate and a valid WA state Principal certificate.
This position follows a 10-month work schedule aligned to the teaching staff calendar plus required attendance at the annual Administrative Institute in August. Responsibilities are focused on the academic year and building-level operations during the school year.

This position will support administrators and students/families at the Science and Math Institute (SAMI)

Examples Of Duties

SUMMARY
This position assists the building administrator(s) in providing leadership through a responsive and dynamic educational program so that all students will acquire the knowledge skills values and attitudes to lead self-sufficient well-adjusted healthy productive and socially responsible lives to the best of their individual potential. This position supports the implementation of instructional student support and operational programs; supervises and evaluates assigned staff; administers student discipline; promotes a positive school climate; and contributes to the effective operation of the school.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Assists in supervising evaluating and facilitating the improvement of instructional and student support programs within the building.
  2. Supervises and evaluates assigned building personnel; provides feedback coaching and professional development to support staff performance and growth.
  3. Supports the student management program; supervises students in lunchroom in hallways on school grounds and in any program held at the school under school district sanction; applies District policies and procedures in addressing student behavior; administers student discipline.
  4. Monitors student attendance; works with staff and families to address attendance concerns and ensure compliance with state requirements.
  5. Assists in the planning coordination and implementation of state required testing and other building-level programs and initiatives.
  6. Assists in student placement and scheduling processes.
  7. Supports the coordination of school activities and building operations in alignment with district and building priorities.
  8. Prepares reports and maintains current records as required; analyzes and utilizes data including data from the Districts Student Information System (SIS) to support program improvement within the building.
  9. Supports school safety efforts; participates in emergency preparedness activities and drills to ensure compliance with district state and federal regulations.
  10. Promotes positive relationships with staff students families and the community; exercises good judgment in interactions with a variety of stakeholders.
  11. Participates in staff meetings and in-service training programs sponsored by the principal and/or the district; maintains and updates knowledge and skills necessary for success in the position by participating in professional development activities as needed or as assigned.
  12. Maintains a high standard of ethics in all professional relationships actions and decisions.

  3. Regular reliable predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposed to and may be required to defuse difficult and sensitive situations and/or people; required to attend meetings and activities beyond regular work hours; required to travel within the district and the community; may be required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds bend squat stoop kneel crouch walk twist climb and/or be mobile.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Education or related field; Masters degree in Education preferred; successful teaching experience and demonstrated leadership experience; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge skills and ability required to perform the work.

Licenses/Special Requirements
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
Valid Washington State Administrative credential required.
Washington drivers license and access to personal transportation.
Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance.
