Job Summary

US Farathaneis seeking an experiencedTooling Repair Supervisor.
The Tooling Repair Supervisor is responsible for leading the tool room and tooling repair team supporting plastic injection molding operations in an automotive manufacturing environment. The role ensures molds tooling and related equipment are maintained in optimal condition to support production quality uptime and customer requirements. The Tooling Supervisor oversees preventive and corrective mold maintenance tooling repairs and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with automotive quality and safety standards.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervise daily activities of tooling repair technicians supporting injection molding operations.
  • Plan schedule and prioritize mold maintenance repairs and changeovers to support production schedules.
  • Ensure molds and tooling are maintained to meet quality dimensional and cycle time requirements.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues include flash short shots dimensional variation and cosmetic defects.
  • Coordinate mold tear-down cleaning polishing and component replacement.
  • Partner with Production Maintenance and Quality teams to address tooling-related downtime and defects.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for molds hot runners and tooling components.
  • Maintain accurate tooling maintenance records repair histories and spare parts inventories.
  • Support root cause analysis corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling performance.
  • Coordinate with external mold shops and vendors for complex repairs or modifications.
  • Support mold trials start-ups and process validation activities.
  • Enforce tooling standards work instructions and safety procedures within tool room.
  • Train coach and develop tooling repair technicians; support cross-training and skill development.
  • Assist with new mold launches engineering changes and costumer program requirements.
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety standards within the tool room and molding areas.
  • Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout crane and hoist safety standards and machine guarding requirements.
  • Support compliance with automotive quality systems (e.g. IATF 16949) and customer specific requirements.
  • Participate in safety audits (EASE) incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical degree or journeyman toolmaker certification preferred.
  • 5 years of injection mold repair or toolmaking experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of plastic injection molds hot runner systems and mold components.
  • Experience with mold troubleshooting dimensional control and surface finish requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints mold drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Prefer experience with automotive quality systems (IATF 16949 PPAP APQP).
  • Knowledge of general toolroom supplies how to locate purchase and/or obtain.
  • Knowledge of all steel types polishing techniques and surface treatments.
  • Experience with cranes forklifts and mold handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with tooling tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of common Toolroom equipment machinery and operations.
  • Lean Manufacturing / TPM experience.

  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required for precision tooling work inspections and repairs.
  • Ability to visually inspect molds tooling components and part surfaces for defects and wear.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints mold drawings work instructions and computer screens.
  • Ability to hear and respond to machine alarms overhead crane signals and verbal communication in a noisy environment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses steel-toe footwear gloves hear protection as needed and protective clothing.
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to oils lubricants temperature variations vibration and industrial noise.
  • Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations including after-hours or off-shift call-ins.
