About the Role
Applications are invited for an advanced psychiatry registrar with a specific interest in psychotherapy to join the Psychotherapy Department at St Vincents Health Melbourne for a one year specialised training placement.
This is an accredited training position funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health under the Specialist Training Program. The Registrars clinical work takes place both in public settings within St Vincents Mental Health Service and in the private sector primarily at a psychotherapy-oriented clinic adjacent to St Vincents Hospital on Gertrude Street Fitzroy.
The registrar will be expected to deliver psychodynamic psychotherapy in each of the settings. It is anticipated that there will be opportunities for individual family and group psychotherapy. The registrar is encouraged to attend to formal educational opportunities on courses related to the development of specialist skills in the area of psychotherapy.
Expert supervision will be provided for each of the psychotherapeutic treatment modalities the registrar is engaged in and the registrar has the opportunity to participate in a rich array of reflective groups and topic seminars.
There is an expectation that the successful applicant contributes to the on-call roster at St Vincents Mental Health.
Classifications for this position will range from HM26 - HM30 ($136413.16 - $177622.12) pro rata for part-time.

About the Mental Health Department

St Vincents mental health includes an adult area mental health service for the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.
St Vincents trainees have access to a wealth of specialist experiences including dual diagnosis aboriginal mental health psychiatry of trauma psychotherapy perinatal psychiatry psycho-oncology consultation liaison psychiatry psychiatry of old age and forensic psychiatry. Trainees are rotated to Austin and Eastern Health or to a new private rotation at Gertrude Street Clinic for their child and adolescent mental health experience.
