The City of MurphyFacilities Departmentseeks to add a Facilities Maintenance Technicianto its dynamic team! The Facilities Maintenance Technician under direction of the Facilities Superintendent performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties to include electrical plumbing carpentry painting and monthly preventative maintenance on all municipal HVAC systems.

Pay Plan
This opportunity is FLSA non-exempt and budgeted on Pay Grade #28.
The pay plan range below is shown to represent opportunities for growth and development within this opportunity. We are seeking to hire between the Min to Mid-range of the pay grade shown dependent upon qualifications.
Min $23.21/hour
Mid $27.85/hour
Max $32.49/hour

Examples of Duties
- Assists the Superintendent in managing planning and operating municipal facilities
- Assists the Superintendent with an inventory of Public buildings and their operating systems
- Performs the systematic monthly preventative maintenance on all municipal HVAC systems to include filter replacement and lubrication Assists the Superintendent in identifying potential hazards problem areas and the status of municipal buildings and their electrical plumbing and HVAC systems
- Performs minor repairs on all municipal HVAC systems
- Assists in monitoring various contractors
- Assists the Superintendent in monitoring and providing compliance with Service Agreements and Contracts - provides details to obtain quotes and evaluates results
- Performs the systematic monthly preventative maintenance on all municipal generator systems and maintaining monthly log
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets installing of water heaters unclogging of drains etc.)
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches incandescent and florescent bulbs/tubes ballast sockets fuse minor appliance cords etc.) using appropriate hand power and specialty tools
- Performs minor painting carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using a brush sprayer or roller to apply paints stains and varnishes)
- Reconfigures installs positions and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture wall panels work surfaces storage bins file cabinets etc.)
- Prepares the surfaces and paints various types of structures and equipment
- Hangs pictures and shelving as needed
- Responds to various service requests and provides corrective action
- Performs general work order requests
- Adheres to personnel safety and department policies and procedures
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Two (2) years of previous maintenance experience that includes working with HVAC electrical and plumbing systems and carpentry work
- Valid Texas Class C Drivers License - driving record must be in compliance with City policy.
Supplemental Information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a related trade school or HVAC training
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- May be required to lift up to one hundred (100) pounds
- May be required to work evening weekends and overtime as needed
