BIM Lead
Job Summary
Echelon Data Centres was established in 2017 by the main principal of Aldgate Developments a leading commercial property developer and owner of major commercial office buildings in Central London and Dublin. The objective was developing operating and owning a network of large-scale responsibly designed sustainably powered data centre campuses across the world to meet the rapidly expanding global demand for hyperscale data processing and storage solutions.
Echelon currently has seven data centre facilities either operational or in development across Ireland the United Kingdom and Spain with a combined capacity of approximately 1.25GW. The recent acquisition of a prime 37-acre site in Italy marks the next step of Echelons expansion into Continental Europe.
We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our function in our Dublin office by recruiting an experienced BIM Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to further their career in a highly motivated and inspirational environment.
The Role
The BIM Lead will be responsible for establishing leading and continuously improving building information management and digital delivery capabilities across a rapidly expanding portfolio of international data centre projects.
This role will lead the adoption of the organisations new common data environment and digital applications ensuring consistent high-quality implementation across all design projects and identifying opportunities to extend its effective use across all project stages.
The BIM Lead will operate at both strategic and delivery levels:
Detail-oriented defining and standardising processes standards and information requirements
Strategic and influential - providing stewardship of digital tools vendor relationships and consultant performance
This is a client-side leadership role with growth potential as the organisation scales and improves its digital delivery strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Key point of contact between Digital Technology Vendors design consultants and internal stakeholders
BIM & Digital Delivery Strategy
Define and implement the organisations BIM and digital delivery strategy aligned with business growth project delivery objectives and data/information requirements.
Act as custodian of BIM standards processes and governance across the portfolio.
Align BIM delivery with ISO 19650 principles client-side information management best practice and internal data strategies.
Identify and evaluate opportunities for continuous improvement innovation and automation in digital project delivery.
New CDE and digital applications Adoption & Management
Lead the standardised rollout across all design projects.
Define project setup standards permissions folder structures workflows and approval processes.
Ensure consistent use for information exchange coordination issue management and reporting.
Work with internal teams and external consultants to drive adoption compliance and effective use
Act as the organisations subject matter expert liaising with the Vendor and implementation partners.
Information Management & Project Governance
Develop and maintain portfolio-level documentation including:
BIM / Information Management Standards
Exchange Information Requirements (EIRs)
BIM Execution Plan (BEP) templates
Model and Information Delivery Plans (MIDP / TIDP)
Ensure project teams and consultants clearly understand information deliverables responsibilities and milestones.
Monitor compliance through audits reviews dashboards and reporting escalating risks and non-compliance as required.
Support the definition of handover and asset information requirements aligned with future operations.
Project & Portfolio Support
Act as the primary BIM and digital delivery point of contact for designated projects.
Support design teams during project setup delivery and closeout phases.
Chair or contribute to BIM coordination digital delivery and interoperability workshops.
Ensure digital deliverables support programme certainty quality and risk reduction.
Provide clear concise reporting to senior stakeholders on digital delivery performance risks and opportunities.
Stakeholder Vendor & Consultant Management
Lead engagement with external design consultants ensuring alignment with organisational BIM standards and workflows.
Manage relationships with digital technology vendors implementation partners and specialist consultants.
Support procurement and evaluation of new digital tools and platforms ensuring interoperability and value for money.
Influence and educate senior stakeholders on the value of effective BIM and information management.
Leadership Training & Capability Building
Act as a role model and advocate for digital excellence across the organisation.
Develop and deliver training guidance and onboarding materials for internal teams.
Support the upskilling of project teams in BIM CDE digital applications and digital collaboration practices.
Contribute to the long-term roadmap for digital delivery capability as the organisation scales.
Proven experience in a BIM Lead / Digital Delivery Lead / Information Manager role on complex capital projects ideally including data centres or other mission-critical infrastructure.
Strong experience implementing and managing Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) in a multi-project environment.
Solid understanding of ISO 19650 and information management principles across the project lifecycle.
Experience working client-side or in a client-facing leadership role influencing consultants and stakeholders.
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
Strong leadership communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to operate confidently at both strategic and project delivery levels.
Experience working across Ireland UK and European project environments.
Background in architecture engineering construction or digital delivery.
Familiarity with downstream use of BIM data for construction commissioning and operations.
Experience integrating BIM with asset information data platforms or CAFM/CMMS systems.
Degree (Level 8 or higher) in Architecture Engineering Construction Digital Construction or a related discipline or equivalent experience in lieu of formal qualification.
