SUMMARY

Flathead Valley Community College is an outstanding public community college located on a beautiful campus in Kalispell Montana with panoramic views of the northern Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manages and leads financial and operational areas of the college.
  • Serves as a strategic business advisor to the President and senior leadership team.
  • Oversees the Business Office Facilities and Grounds Auxiliary Services Mailroom and other related areas. Provides leadership mentors and supervises staff; motivates and empowers staff to create environments that promote innovation; sets standards for delivering quality services.
  • Develops and maintains the college budget and financial forecasts; reviews campus expenditures and works closely with departments of the college in budgeting and finance; prepares and presents financial and budgeting reports.
  • Collaboratively manages the infrastructure of the college and strategically allocates and prioritizes fiscal resources and manages the elements of fiscal accountability; oversees the submission of reports to local state and federal agencies.
  • Conducts long-term financial forecasts for the colleges funds. Monitors financial and operational developments to ensure that forecasts are current and accurate; provides insight and recommendations on the short-term and long-term plans of the College.
  • Designs prepares analyzes and presents college financial reports to the President Board of Trustees Foundation Board and other appropriate individuals and groups.
  • Provides data for external audits implements corrections and improvements and provides responses and reports to administration.
  • Participates actively and with initiative in continuous improvement efforts to provide quality fiscal services and data analysis to aid administrators in the decision-making process.
  • Formulates implements and manages initiatives and projects.
  • Oversees renovation and maintenance of facilities necessary to accomplish the colleges mission.
  • Monitors finance internal control policies and procedures and recommends changes to ensure organizational mission.
  • Assumes leadership in promoting good public relations with college faculty staff students and external constituents; represents the college to external constituencies including school districts other post-secondary institutions Board of Regents businesses industry and community; leads and serves on various committees.
  • Attends related trainings workshops and professional development.
  • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students faculty and the College.
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing to the community in college-related activities
  • Reports to the President and is a member of the Presidents Executive Team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters degree from an accredited institution in a field appropriate to the responsibilities of the position and a minimum of five years of senior fiscal experience including significant proven experience in accounting and administration; OR
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a field appropriate to the responsibilities of position and a minimum of ten years of senior fiscal experience including significant proven experience in accounting and administration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Work experience in fund accounting
  • Masters degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Related work experience in a community college higher education or public administration.

  • Excellent skills with spreadsheets fiscal programs and interpretation of fiscal data.
  • Skill collaborating with key stakeholders in senior higher education administration the college community and public.
  • Skill in utilizing and implementing information and/or education technology systems and providing services that instill a data-informed approach to decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate in all financial and operational areas.
  • Excellent skill in all forms of communication.
  • Excellent knowledge and skill in fund accounting.
  • Ability and skill in developing and monitoring department budgets and grant funded initiatives.
  • Skills in hiring coaching and managing employees.
  • Demonstrated skill in effectively analyzing data and assessments for outcome-oriented results.
  • Skill and ability to operate a variety of computer and software applications.
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC.
  • Ability and willingness to serve as an ambassador for the College by interacting appropriately with the college community and community.
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships.

  • Demonstrated communication technology presentation customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings weekends etc.

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check .
  • Ability to respond in the event of an emergency.
  • This is a Medium Duty job according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
