Rack Refrigeration Technician / HVAC-R Technician
Location: Roseville
Compensation: Competitive pay equivalent to approximately $36$44/hour based on experience certifications and qualifications.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Rack Refrigeration Technician / HVAC-R Technician to support commercial and industrial refrigeration systems in a fast-paced facility environment. This role is heavily focused on operating maintaining troubleshooting and repairing rack refrigeration systems HVAC equipment and associated mechanical and electrical systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with supermarket or industrial rack systems compressors condensers evaporators controls piping and refrigeration circuits. Candidates should also possess working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting plumbing and general facility maintenance. This position is critical to maintaining system uptime energy efficiency and safe facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Refrigeration & HVAC-R Systems
- Diagnose troubleshoot maintain and repair rack refrigeration systems and related HVAC/R equipment.
- Service compressors condensers evaporators expansion valves refrigerant controls pumps piping systems and associated components.
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on refrigeration racks and cooling systems.
- Monitor refrigeration performance and identify potential failures before downtime occurs.
- Troubleshoot electrical controls sensors relays contactors motors and control circuits related to refrigeration equipment.
- Maintain proper refrigerant charge levels and ensure EPA compliance.
- Respond to refrigeration alarms equipment failures and emergency service calls.
- Maintain accurate service records and equipment history.
Facility Maintenance
- Support maintenance and repair of electrical plumbing mechanical and building systems as needed.
- Perform inspections of facility equipment and identify operational or safety concerns.
- Assist with general building maintenance including lighting fixtures and minor repairs.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while maintaining clean and safe work areas.
- Complete hazard assessments and identify unsafe conditions.
- Maintain compliance with EPA regulations local codes and industry standards.
- Complete required safety training and practice safe driving procedures.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Update work orders and maintenance activities in CMMS systems such as Corrigo.
- Submit required documentation and purchasing records daily.
- Escalate major equipment or operational issues to management promptly.
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and respond to after-hours refrigeration emergencies.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems.
- Strong experience with rack refrigeration systems preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting HVAC/R electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycles controls and refrigerant management.
Education & Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Universal EPA/CFC Certification required
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.
- Trade school training or apprenticeship in HVAC/R or electrical systems preferred.
- Additional industry certifications are a plus.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong refrigeration troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams schematics and blueprints.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in demanding environments.
- Experience using mobile work order and CMMS systems preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
- Frequent climbing bending kneeling and overhead work.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet while carrying tools.
- Comfortable working in hot cold and industrial environments.
- Must be available for emergency service calls and on-call rotation.
