Quality Assurance Engineer

Ultra-met is a privately held financially sound manufacturer with a diverse customer base that does NOT produce products for Just-In-Time.

Company Overview: The Ultra-met Company is a leading independent manufacturer of tungsten carbide products for fabricators and tool makers. Our products will be used in a wide range of industries including automotive aerospace medical petroleum and woodworking industries. Our products primarily consist of cutting tools and wear products. The manufacturing process involves milling tungsten carbide powder pressing forming sintering and grinding operations. We are a locally owned privately held long-term growth-oriented company.

Summary: The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer organizes and measures all activities performed by the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure the highest levels of safety service quality and productivity are achieved. This position will be responsible for developing the tactical plans and activities that achieve the strategic direction set forth by the Vice President of Operations and other applicable Senior Leadership.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Plans the activities of the QA team to ensure production schedules are met within the established quality safety and operational standards.
• Provides direction expertise and timely resolution to quality-related issues affecting production.
• Participates and/or conducts investigations including root cause analysis related to quality deviations and develops and executes corrective actions as required.
• Establishes and/or revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Work Instructions (WIs) and best practices related to the QA functions.
• Identifies leads and drives continuous improvement opportunities and projects that enhance the quality standards and results set forth by the company and/or customer.
• Directs and performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the companys quality system including always maintaining a clean and orderly production area.
• Follows promotes and enforces Ultra-mets safety and environmental policies practices and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:

• Bachelors degree in a science-related field place of a degree a minimum of five years of experience in a quality assurance engineering role in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum three years in a Quality Assurance Inspection role preferred.
• Experience with standard inspection tools (micrometers indicators calipers etc.)
• Pressing operation and CMM use are pluses
• Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent organizational skills.
• Self-starter with strong work ethic positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and manage time efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
