This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center 250 Dewey Ave Spartanburg SC 29303.

Under limited supervision of the Spartanburg Clinic Director employee is responsible for the development implementation and supervision of programs serving children adolescents and families at the Spartanburg Clinic who have severe emotional disorders and complex and severe persistent mental illness. This includes the multiple special programs at the SAMHC including CAF clinic -based services and School Based mental health services. Works closely with the FOCUS Program Director to ensure continuity of care for those services through FOCUS. Responsible for collaborating with community partners including schools child advocacy centers DJJ DSS and other community partners. Provide services in a culturally sensitive manner.


Responsibilities for the Program Coordinator II:

  • Provide development implementation and supervision of program components serving children adolescents and their families. Provide both clinical and administrative supervision including but not limited to the collection and dissemination of clinical outcomes to help shape supervisee behavior timely completion of HR paperwork monitoring of Patient Care Hours and finding solutions for staff to be successful with meeting benchmarks. Maintain regular schedule for both individual and group supervision. Maintain consistent treatment team protocol for the CAF department. ACT as CAF liaison for Cherokee and Union clinics with state CAF personnel attending state and level meetings and sharing information with Clinic Directors in a timely fashion.
  • Provide oversight to the School Mental Health program including serving as the liaison to the primary and secondary educational institutions in Spartanburg County including all 7 Spartanburg County school districts and public charter schools. Attend principals meeting meets with superintendents and other staff to promote and grow the School Mental Health program. Follow up on School Mental Health contract amounts with district office staff to ensure timely payment of contracted amounts. Attend interagency staffings or designates staff to do so with DSS and/or DSS for shared patients.
  • Adhere to all Corporate Compliance Outcome Evaluation Research and Continuity of Care Policies and Procedures. Maintain documentation of clinical service in accordance with State/Center/Quality Assurance standards. Assure high quality services have been provided in a culturally sensitive manner. Develop budget for the CAF department and promote fiscal responsibility among all CAF staff.
  • Coordinate and implements training in evidence -based treatment practices for assessment crisis stabilization individual family and group therapy. Attend management meetings.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelors degree and relevant program experience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Additional Comments

Post hire employees must:

  • Successfully complete the Basic Fundamentals course with a minimum grade of 75.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
  • Knowledge of mental illness and substance abuse.
  • Skills to assess individuals with a severe and complex diagnosis.
  • Ability to establish and relate to individuals families and representatives of other agencies in the community.
