Job Details

Role Purpose

The Senior Director is a senior leadership role responsible for driving client growth leading high-performing research teams and delivering commercially impactful insights. The role acts as a strategic partner to key clients and plays a critical role in shaping business growth team capability and market presence in Hong Kong and the wider region.

Key Stakeholders

Internal

  • Business Unit Heads and Senior Leadership
  • Research Directors Managers and Project Teams
  • Cross-functional teams (e.g. Operations Finance Commercial)

External

  • Senior-level client stakeholders and key accounts
  • Strategic partners and industry contacts

Key Responsibilities

Client & Commercial Leadership

  • Own and strengthen long-term senior-level relationships with key clients acting as a trusted strategic advisor.
  • Lead major client accounts with full accountability for commercial performance and client satisfaction.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and develop new business sectors and partnerships.
  • Lead and present compelling research proposals pitches and commercial solutions to clients.

Research & Insight Excellence

  • Provide strategic oversight of complex research programmes ensuring high-quality delivery and value creation.
  • Deliver advanced analysis translating data into clear impactful insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Lead the development and presentation of high-impact research reports and senior-level client deliverables.

People & Leadership

  • Lead develop and inspire a team of researchers through effective resource planning performance management coaching and succession development.
  • Build strong leadership capability within the team and foster a culture of accountability collaboration and excellence.
  • Actively mentor senior and mid-level team members across client management research delivery and business development.

Business & Strategic Contribution

  • Hold overall responsibility for achieving agreed annual revenue margin and team targets.
  • Contribute to business planning organisational development and capability-building initiatives at a local and regional level.
  • Represent the company externally through industry forums client events seminars and thought-leadership activities.

Requirements

Experience & Education

  • Bachelors degree or above.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in market research preferably within international research or consulting agencies.
  • Proven track record in managing senior client relationships growing accounts and leading high-performing teams.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong commercial acumen with solid understanding of marketing and business strategy.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of research methodologies analytics tools and research technologies.
  • Strong industry insight with the ability to connect research findings to business impact.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and statistical/analytics tools (e.g. SPSS SAS or equivalent).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; fluent in English.
  • Strong client servicing negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Confident decisive leader with strong people management and coaching skills.
  • Highly organised with strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
