Job Summary

Summary

This recruitment is to fill a Term-Limited Temporary position that is anticipated to end in May 2027. If filled by a King County employee who has passed their initial probation it will be a Special Duty Assignment.

This position would be researching any supplier/vendor variances or payment issues or delays that prevent immediate processing. This position would also be responsible for issuing affidavits reissuing payments researching duplicate payments research miscellaneous cash receipt/refunds and handling returned warrants. Other duties include reviewing & resolving outstanding invoices on the AP hold report and reconciling large vendor accounts. This position also handles for the Central Accounts Payable inbox.

Scope of Job Duties
  • Resolve invoice issues that prevent payment processing such as incorrect tax rate freight discrepancies missing purchase order numbers etc.
  • Coordinate review of hold report and supplier statements for open items to ensure outstanding invoices are paid.
  • Verify with King County departments whether a payment should be reissued and prepare and mail letters or affidavit forms to payee requesting check to be reissued
  • Log and track letters inquiries emails or calls regarding payment
  • Credit Memo research
  • Provide Internal and external customer service
  • Create review and maintain Standard Work for Processing Team
  • Generate and review uncashed check reports from Bank website
  • Assist with creating training materials for internal agency customers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated wide range of progressive Accounts Payable experience in all areas from receipt to payment preferably in a government setting.
  • Experience using an automated financial management system preferably Oracle.
  • Knowledge on sales and use tax
  • Good problem solving and analysis skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication interpersonal writing and customer service skills
  • Intermediate level of technology proficiency using MS Office Productivity tools in your daily work
  • Ability to manage your time and adapt to changing priorities work on multiple priorities and projects simultaneously meet quick deadlines and produce timely and quality work products.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Bachelors degree in business administration accounting or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with LEAN processes and principles
  • Experience with SharePoint MS Teams and other collaborative online tools

Position Information:

  • Work Site Details:The team works in a hybrid model with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change.The primary onsite location is King Street Center 201 S.   • Location Requirement:Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
  • Work Schedule:This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule every other Thursday comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Union Representation:This position is Teamsters 117 represented.

The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work in our departments hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a county-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work. Employees will need to be available and responsive during scheduled work hours and follow FBODs hybrid/remote guidelines that include on-camera participation during virtual video meetings.
