headspace Mount Isa is seeking a passionate and skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our multidisciplinary team supporting young people aged 1225 years and their families.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidencebased youthfriendly mental health care within a wellestablished communitycontrolled service that values early intervention care coordination and culturally safe practice.

headspace Mount Isa is proudly led by Gidgee Healing an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service committed to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the Mt Isa North West and Lower Gulf regions.

About the role

Reporting to the Centre Manager & Clinical Lead the Mental Health Clinician will:

  • Provide evidencebased mental health assessment and interventions for young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health concerns
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments including suicide and risk assessments
  • Coordinate care in collaboration with young people families internal team members and external service providers
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and meet headspace data and reporting requirements
  • Contribute clinical expertise consultation and supervision (within scope of practice)
  • Actively participate in case reviews team meetings and community engagement activities
  • Work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team focused on youth wellbeing and recovery

This role includes both clinical service delivery and administrative responsibilities within a youthfriendly and communityfocused environment.

About you

You are a qualified and motivated mental health professional who brings:

  • Demonstrated experience providing clinical evidencebased interventions with young people and families
  • A strong understanding of legislation ethical standards and contemporary youth mental health practice
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary communitybased setting
  • Strong clinical documentation information management and IT skills
  • Flexibility resilience and willingness to work in a regional and remote context

Qualifications & Registration

Psychologist

  • Current unconditional general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology (Masters level or higher) highly desirable
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Medicare Provider Number

Occupational Therapist or Social Worker

  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy or Social Work
  • Current registration with the relevant professional body (AHPRA for Occupational Therapists or AASW for Social Workers)
  • Formal Mental Health accreditation including:Eligibility for or current status as an Accredited Mental Health Professional and Ability to apply for and maintain a Medicare Provider Number
  • Demonstrated experience in youth mental health practice

Mandatory requirements

  • Current QLD C Class Drivers Licence
  • Satisfactory Police Check
  • Current Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including travel and overnight stays in remote communities
  • Capacity to travel by road and small plane
