Inner City Law Center is hiring talented dynamic lawyers to help end homelessness in Los Angeles. We are a nonprofit poverty-law firmlocatedin the Skid Row neighborhood of Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect ICLCs 75 attorneys fight for housing justice for low-income tenants working-poor families people experiencing homelessness people living with HIV/AIDS people with disabilities and homeless veterans.

Position Description:ICLC seeks a talented full-timeSupervisingAttorney thatwill work closely with clients and our partner organizations and will bring a whatever-it-takes approach to ending and preventing homelessness. Strategies include maximizing income through government benefits and increased employability; consumer law; limited immigrationassistance; eviction defense; record expungement; citation defense; credit improvement; debt reduction; and preserving and obtaining housing subsidies.

Responsibilities:TheSupervisingAttorneys primary responsibility isensuring that ICLC clients receive excellent legal services. To do thisSupervisingAttorneys:
  • Help shape a newly funded project and manage a team of attorneys andparalegal(s).
  • Develop andmaintainstrong relationships withfunder legal services partnersgovernmentagenciesand community-based organizations.
  • Oversee case acceptance criteria and a streamlined referral process to other providers so that clients experience a no wrong door approach.
  • Provide holistic legal services to tackle barriers that our clients face and carry a caseload asappropriate.
  • Supervise mentor and guide attorneysparalegalsand other program staffwith creative problem solving and litigation to address novel issues.
  • Be comfortableguidingyour team in addressing awide-arrayof legal issues.
  • Participate in community outreach events including monthly in-person legal intake clinics and develop relationships with service providers.
  • Perform management roles including organizingteam work-flow and work schedules assigning work providing substantive supervision of legal work managing aspects ofgrant fundingproviding professional development opportunities for staff and providing guidance and recommendationsregardinghiring promotion evaluations and significantdiscipline decisions.
  • Perform work related to grant reporting and compliance.
  • Partner with pro bono counsel to expand the volume of services ICLC can provide.
  • Guide and train external entities and pro bono partnersas needed.
  • Contribute to conversations surrounding housing policy in Los Angeles County andparticipatein community groups and coalitions on issuesimpactingICLC clients and client communities.
  • Assistwith projects and drafting policies and procedures related to legal issues.
  • Adhere to all ethical responsibilities including the Rules of Professional Conduct whichestablishstandards of legal ethics and professional responsibility for lawyers in California.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to use good judgment multitask and meet short-notice deadlines. Ability to interact with a wide range of people in a kindappropriate client-centered manner. Membership in the California Bar isrequiredunless you are eligible to practice as a Registered Legal Aid Attorney under Rule 9.45 of the California Rules of experience required. Prior supervision of legal staff preferred. Musthave a reliable form of transportation.

Compensation:We are seeking attorneys at all levels of ranges from $91000 to $125000 and iscommensuratewith qualifications and experience. has a hybrid work environment. This position will serve a nine-month probationary period.
