TheRegistered Nurse plays an important role in delivering the Newman Clinic teamsgoals to manage illness promote well-being maintain health systems provideeducation and training and encourage community health action.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Provideprimary health care assessments immunisations and chronic disease support
- CompleteMedicare health checks care plans and reviews
- Administermedications and deliver patient education
- Triageclients and maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Workcollaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Supportclinic operations stock and staff onboarding
- MentorAboriginal Health Practitioners and contribute to quality improvement
- Performother duties as required
About You
To beconsidered for this position you must have:
- AHPRAregisteredRegistered Nurse with 3 years postregistration experience
- Abilityto practice in line with NMBA standards or Aboriginal and Torres StraitIslander Health Practice Board standards
- Strongprimary health care skills: health checks immunisations RHD programantenatal child health chronic disease management
- Demonstratedcultural safety respect for Aboriginal culture and willingness to engage inintercultural learning
- Understandingof Aboriginal health issues health inequality drivers and WA healthlegislation
- Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills
- Experienceworking effectively in a multidisciplinary primary health care team
- Competentusing electronic clinical systems (e.g. Communicare)
- CurrentUnderstanding Vaccines & National Immunisation Program Certificate (orwillingness to obtain)
- CurrentFirst Aid or Intermediate/Advanced Life Support certification
Theposition involves working with a multicultural organisation where the majorityof staff clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal or Torres StraitIslander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issuesaffecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability tocommunicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres StraitIslander people.

With anadministrative hub based in Newman in the Pilbara region of Western AustraliaThe Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) provides holistic primaryhealth care to the individuals and families within the remote communities ofJigalong Parnngurr Punmu and Kunawarritji.
PAMS aims toimprove the standard of health of the Martu people and all Aboriginal peopleliving in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia through the provision ofcommunity based comprehensive primary health care services. We exist topromote the health and well-being of individual community members and torelieve sickness and the suffering of the indigenous community as a whole. Weare passionate about providing the highest standard of patient care whilstincorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness.
