Hammond Nguyen Turnbull is expanding its commercial practice and is seeking a senior commercial lawyer ready to step into a leadership role build strong client relationships and play a key part in the teams growth. For the right performer there is a clear pathway to Senior Associate or Special Counsel with the opportunity to lead a team or division.

About the RoleAs a senior member of the commercial team youll act as the 2IC within a thriving and expanding practice. Youll advise on a broad portfolio of business clients including corporate structuring mergers and acquisitions a wide range of business agreements and general commercial advisory work. You will also develop your leadership capability by mentoring a junior solicitor and paralegal as the team continues to grow.

What Youll Do

Commercial Advisory

• Advise clients on structures governance contracts and general legal issues businesses face
• Act as a trusted adviser to retainer clients managing their daytoday legal needs
• Translate complex legal issues in clear practical guidance

Document Drafting & Negotiation

• Draft review and negotiate a variety of business and commercial agreements including but not limited to share-holder agreements company constitutions employment/contractor agreements terms and conditions confidentiality deeds and other general commercial contracts
• Review incoming contracts and advise on the risk and commercial implications
• Tailor contract to suit clientspecific needs and risk

Transactional

• Act for vendors and purchasers in mergers and acquisitions
• Review and draft commercial leases
• Provide advice on various commercial transactions

Team Leadership

• Lead supervise and mentor a junior solicitor and paralegal
• Allocate and oversee workflow to ensure quality and timely delivery
• Foster a collaborative highperforming team culture

Client & Practice Management

• Manage a portfolio of retainer clients with responsiveness and commercial awareness
• Build longterm client relationships as a trusted advisor and first point of contact
• Learn how to market and win work
• Maintain accurate file records and meet professional obligations

What Were Looking For

• 2-4 years PQE in commercial law (private practice)
• Strong background in corporate/commercial advisory and contract work
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate legal concepts into practical business advice
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide pragmatic solutions focused advice
• Proven track record of working collaboratively in a team environment
• Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations in the corporate and commercial space
• Admitted in NSW with a current practising certificate
• Confident managing client relationships independently
• Interest in managing leading and supervising a team
• Experience supervising juniors (preferred but not essential)
