Whats the role

As a Lawyer / Senior Lawyer you will provide clear commercially focused legal advice on day-to-day matters across the Business Transaction Banking line of business. This includes advising on pricing changes compliance incidents regulatory engagement marketing initiatives and customer-related queries from front-line teams.

You will also support key initiatives such as new product and feature development product enhancements and third-party partnerships ensuring legal risks are identified and managed effectively.

In addition you will contribute to the broader Legal function by supporting knowledge management shaping house views and fostering a collaborative high-performing team culture. This role requires a proactive solutions-focused approach and strong collaboration across business Risk and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with regulatory obligations and strategic priorities.

What do I need

  • 8 10 years PQE as a lawyer at a reputable law firm and/or in-house at a financial services institution including with experience in financial services regulation.
  • Extensive experience providing legal advice in relation to business transaction banking products.
  • Knowledge of (and ability to apply) relevant legislation and industry codes including Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act (including the anti-hawking and DDO provisions) the ASIC Act (including the unfair contract terms provisions) the Banking Code of Practice the Privacy Act and the Spam Act.
  • A commercial solutions focused approach to legal advice.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and simplifying complex issues with the ability to translate complex information into clear practical guidance that supports effective decision-making.
