Child and Family Services Foster Care
Job Title: Foster Care Licensing and Intake Supervisor
Reports To: Program Manager
Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Our Mission: To provide expert comprehensive services in southeastern Michigan that strengthen children adults and families impacted by abuse and neglect autism developmental disabilities and mental health challenges so they are successful in their communities.

Job Summary:
The Foster Care Licensing and Intake Supervisors primary responsibilities include supervising the licensing specialists in regard to all licensing activities as well as the recruitment and retention of foster homes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and approves all reports and recommendations issued by the licensing specialist.
  • Reviews and approves all placement searches and matches.
  • Reviews and approves case initiating paperwork and assessments.
  • Oversees special evaluation of foster homes and determines compliance with agency and state policies.
  • Develops and implements plans for recruitment and retention of foster families to meet the needs of the program.
  • Supervises up to 5 Social Services staff (licensing specialists).
  • Conducts regular individual supervision sessions and unit meetings.
  • Participates in Family Team Meetings as required and any other case conference as deemed necessary for the department.
  • Assists with emergency situations by covering shift(s) as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
  • Use of personal vehicle as needed with mileage reimbursement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Education Certificates Licenses Registrations:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a human behavioral science and three years of experience as a social service worker in a child welfare agency a child caring institution or in an agency performing a child welfare function. Licensing experience preferred. Masters degree preferred.
  • Valid Michigan Drivers License appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.
  • Must be able to attend and complete 5-day Foster Home Certification and Licensing Complaint Training through the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Division of Child Welfare Licensing (DCWL).
Working Conditions:
  • Works in an office environment and in the community as needed.
  • Non-traditional hours occur often due to the need for evening and weekend visitation for children and birth parents as well as accommodation of foster parents schedules.
  • Possible stressful environment working with relative placements foster families and occasionally the court system.
  • Fast paced enthusiastic and team-oriented workplace.
