The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region Design & Engineering Services is looking for an Engineering Assistant 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!In this position you will work under the direction of a registered professional engineer performing a variety of engineering duties such as applying accepted and standard engineering practices associated with the location design and construction of highway traffic and other civil engineering projects. You will be a member of a team tasked with developing designs and bid-ready documents for highway-related transportation projects ranging in complexity. You will have the opportunity to travel to projects within southcentral Alaska and may be required to occasionally travel to remote communities in small aircraft.

The working environment you can expect:
Your office will be located at 4111 Aviation Avenue Anchorage AK. This work location allows you many options to live and play near a wide range of fantastic outdoor areas and urban community activities. Office hours are flexible and allow for short work and/or part-time telework in accordance with established policies. This position requires limited travel within the state primarily southcentral Alaska. Trips are typically day-trips.

Special Note:- A valid Drivers License is preferred but not essential.
- Engineer-in-training certification is preferred but not essential.
Bachelors degree with a major in engineering architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET.
AND
Two years of engineering architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Or:
A bachelors degree with a major in a branch of engineering from an institution not accredited by ABET.
AND
An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
AND
Two years of engineering architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitutions:
Four years of any combination of ABET accredited postsecondary education in engineering architecture or land surveying (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) and/or engineering architectural or land surveying experience may substitute for the required degree.
Graduate study in engineering or architecture may be substituted for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).Additional Required Information
