Here at Leicestershire County Council we are seeking an experienced mental health social worker to join our Melton & Rutland Mental Health team.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced mental health social worker with skills in managing complex safeguardings working in an MDT approach focussing on the recovery and strength-based model.

Your role will be to complete Care Act 2014 assessments focussing on reablement recovery and strength-based approach. The role is vital in helping deliver high-quality person-centred input to enable people with mental health needs receive the support they need to live independently safely and with dignity. You will be experienced in MDT working have a good understanding of the Mental health Act 1983 and S117 aftercare support planning. You will be confident in managing complex safeguarding and high-risk cases including self-neglect. You will work collaboratively with the person carers and professionals across health and social care to complete care and support assessments promote recovery and uphold the principles of wellbeing and independence to ensure the persons outcomes are met. You will have a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and experience of completing MCA assessments and best interest decisions. As an experienced worker you will be able to manage your own caseload and support your colleagues by sharing your knowledge and skills.

The role covers Melton Rutland and some Charnwood postcodes. The team are delegated to complete Rutland ASC mental health work.

About You

To apply for this post you must:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England and hold a degree in Social Work approved by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent social work qualification ie Certificate of Qualification in Social Work or Diploma in Social Work approved by HCPC.
  • Have knowledge of social work methodologies social care policies such as person-centred approaches and asset based social work and relevantlegislation including The Care Act Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Have experience of effective assessment and risk management delivery and multi-agency/multidisciplinary working and/or hospital discharge processes.
  • Have experience of partnership working with adults to identify and meet need with creative and pragmatic solutions.
  • Be a confident communicator who is skilled in diplomacy persuasion assertive and conflict management and able to build effective working relationships.
  • Be able to work proactively individually but also as a team member.
  • Have good prioritisation and time management skills and have a valid UK driving licence or access to a vehicle
