Store Manager Position Overview The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of a high-volume landscape materials supply yard. This role requires strong leadership operational management and multitasking skills to coordinate sales associates heavy equipment operators yard staff and delivery drivers. The Store Manager ensures excellent customer service accurate financial controls efficient scheduling across departments and proper inventory management while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Manage point-of-sale operations and ensure accuracy in daily financial transactions. Responsible for balancing and reconciling cash drawers and payment systems at the end of each day. Ability to respond quickly to operational emergencies equipment issues or customer concerns. Make sound decisions that protect employees customers and company assets. Maintain safe operations around heavy equipment and truck traffic. Enforce safety procedures for loaders drivers and yard staff. Ensure yard organization supports efficient loading unloading and customer traffic flow.
Delivery & Logistics Coordination Coordinate delivery schedules and dispatch operations with drivers. Ensure efficient routing timely deliveries and communication between yard staff and drivers. Monitor driver schedules and ensure shift compliance and operational efficiency.
Financial & Inventory Management Skills Monitor and manage customer accounts receivable. Track and follow up on outstanding balances as needed. Coordinate with accounting staff regarding billing issues or payment discrepancies.
Monitor inventory levels for bulk materials including rock soil mulch and related products. Track vendor deliveries and inventory receivables. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock levels meet seasonal demand.
Reporting at Monthly Meetings Preferred Experience Previous experience managing a retail location supply yard construction materials yard or landscape supply business. Experience supervising teams that include equipment operators and delivery drivers. Familiarity with POS systems inventory tracking and scheduling software. Experience managing seasonal business fluctuations.
