Job Summary

Long Term Subs: Upper School History Teachers
Friends Select School is seeking two Upper School history teachers to cover quarter-long leaves. The expected dates and positions are listed below:

10th Grade Leave: August 31 2026 to November 23 2026

This position includes teaching three sections of 10th grade Modern World History II and one section of Introduction to Psychology a senior elective course.

11th Grade Leave: September 28 2026 to December 18 2026

This position includes teaching three sections of U.S. History and one section of African American History a senior elective course.

The ideal candidate will take a friendly and collaborative approach to teaching in order to create an inclusive learning environment for all students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach sections listed above and potentially lead an advisory and/or a club
Prepare for classes including grading homework and assessments and posting work on the schools LMS
Meet with students when they need extra help and communicate home for persistent struggles
Communicate with the guidance team and families about students who need additional support
Maintaining and updating Blackbaud (the schools LMS) for each class
Write end of quarter narrative comments

Qualifications/Skills:

Undergraduate degree in history or related subject
Experience teaching history preferably for grades 9-12
Experience and proficiency using a Learning Management System (Blackbaud) preferred
