Reporting To:Director of Safety and Risk Management

Employment Status:Regular Part Time

FLSA Status:Non-Exempt Hourly

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour (DOQ)

Summary Of Core Responsibilities & Org Relationships:

The Campus Safety Associate supports a safe secure and orderly school environment for students staff families and visitors. This part-time role serves as a visible presence on campus and is responsible for monitoring the front entrance managing visitor access observing security systems conducting routine perimeter checks and supporting safe traffic flow during arrival and dismissal. The Campus Safety Associate helps uphold daily safety procedures and contributes to the smooth and secure operation of the school during assigned hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Campus Access and Front Desk Support

  • Manage the front entrance during the school day including greeting visitors monitoring entry and controlling access to the building in accordance with school procedures.
  • Buzz visitors in and out of the building and help ensure that all guests follow school sign-in and visitor procedures.
  • Monitor the front desk area to support safety professionalism and responsive communication with families staff and visitors.
  • Respond appropriately to questions concerns or situations that arise at the front entrance and communicate with school personnel as needed.

Security Monitoring and Campus Safety

  • Monitor security cameras and other safety systems throughout the day and report concerns promptly to the appropriate staff member.
  • Conduct routine perimeter and campus checks to help ensure that entrances exits and outdoor spaces are secure and functioning as expected.
  • Help identify and respond to safety concerns unusual activity or situations that may require follow-up or support.
  • Maintain awareness of daily school operations and help uphold established safety and emergency procedures.
  • Support the implementation of school safety practices and respond calmly and appropriately during drills emergencies or other unexpected situations.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Director of Safety and Risk Management and other school staff to ensure coordination around daily safety needs and concerns.
  • Communicate clearly promptly and professionally with colleagues families and visitors.
  • Document incidents concerns or observations as required by school procedures.
  • Participate in meetings and training related to school safety supervision emergency procedures and assigned responsibilities.

Job Specifications:

Education Experience and Credentials

  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience working in a school security customer service or other public-facing environment preferred.
  • Experience supervising children or adolescents preferred.
  • Experience supporting safety access control or campus operations preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain a calm professional and visible presence in a busy school environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately to safety concerns and unexpected situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact respectfully with students families staff and visitors.
  • Ability to follow established procedures consistently and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance warmth and professionalism in a role that is both service-oriented and safety-focused.
  • Ability to walk the campus conduct perimeter checks and remain actively engaged throughout the school day.

Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform This Job

Incumbent must be able to:

  • Hear speak and effectively communicate in the English language including following oral and written instructions in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization
  • Sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer and in meetings
  • Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use and review detailed reports and information
  • Move around the school and office or classroom area repeatedly or prolonged times throughout the day.
  • Work a flexible schedule including attending and presenting at events and meetings that occur outside of typical work hours as required/scheduled

Tools and Equipment Used

  • Must be able to use computers telephones photocopiers and related office equipment
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 10-35 pounds occasionally depending on your position

Work Environment

  • The work environment is indoors.
  • May occasionally participate in indoor or outdoor off-site student activities for field trips recess etc.
