SUMMER DISCOVERY ACADEMY
Work Year: July 6 2026 - July 30 2026
Monday - Thursday with weekly planning and Pre & Post-Work
7:30 am to 12:00 pm - Nettle Middle School
Trainings in June - Dates TBD
Effective Date of Employment: Immediately Upon Appointment
Salary: Your Contractual Hourly Rate (if for any reason the candidate selected does not complete the appointment compensation will be prorated based upon time served)

Statement of Duties:
- Participate in pre-program training including an asynchronous online orientation and an AllStaff Meeting via Google Meet.
- Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe engaging and positive learning environment.
- Greet students at the bus and/or parent drop-off before school and escort them at the end of their daily session.
- Implement under the supervision of the teacher instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
- Assist teachers for the purpose of determining students needs and conveying information to configure the class into teams groups or pairs for special activities.
- Help individual students feel comfortable in the classroom.
- Work with students one-on-one answering questions and providing extra skills practice when necessary.
- Possess a working knowledge of classroom management: how to motivate students how to discipline how to reinforce what you teach.
- Have technological proficiency using HPS credentials to access Google Suite including Google Classroom Google Drive Google Documents and Spreadsheets and Google Meets.
- Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the teacher principal supervisors/directors directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
- Must work the required hours during the summer school days.
Qualifications:
- Passing Score on the Para Pro Test or other state approved assessment program or completion of 360 Professional Training Points
- Associate Degree or 60 Credit
- Prefer prior experience with children in a school or similar setting.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
