General Responsibilities
This is specialized clerical work involving the processing of payroll information.An employee in this classis responsible forproducing and distributing all payroll disbursements inan accurateandtimelymanner.The work includes entering pertinent employee payroll data into computerized files; makingappropriate calculationspertinent to the payroll process; and communicating withdepartmentalpersonnel.Duties are performed under the general supervision ofthe Operations Supervisor.Incumbent works on assigned tasks without close supervision.Responsibilities includecompilingdocuments to create payrollfor data entry keying payrollworksheetverifyingdata entry of payroll worksheets answering questions resolvingproblemsandassistingemployees with payroll needs.
Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited high school supplemented by some experience with computer keyboard and terminals applicable payroll software processing and procedures and the use of typewriter and calculator; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above noted knowledgeskilland ability.
Essential Job Functions
Verifies and enters payroll datafor the department of over 300including leave informationbudget codessocial security numbers and proper spelling of names; checks first payroll run for accuracy and makes corrections or adjustments asnecessary;submitstime to payroll office for employees inadvertently omitted in the regular runs.
Process payroll product to be entered into MUNIS (information is obtained from a variety of sources dispatch sheetsextra time vouchers field trip formsetc.)
Monitors and verifies payroll data on the computerizedfile
Responds to inquiriesregardingpayroll direct deposit nonreceipt of check and other payroll-related questions; communicates withdepartmentpersonnel to resolve payroll discrepancies.
Distributes check to departmental personnelfiles sick vacation and personal leave slipsfilesevaluations sick notes.
Maintain daily sign-in logs for all staff/garage.
Maintains departmental personnel files.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY
Good knowledge of automated payroll proceduresand some knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
Ability tomaintainrecords for a variety of specialprograms; (recruitment attendance bonusprograms).
Ability tomaintaindetailed up-to-date records on all staff activities and assignmentsas well aspreparedpayrollschedulesactive/inactive employees.
Ability to work under extreme deadlines.
Assistall new hires withopen enrollmentquestionsconcernsand applications.
Good knowledge of clerical methods and English usage.
Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions and strict conformance to detailed instructions.
Ability toutilizea computer keyboard and accurately input data at a reasonable speed.
