Job Summary

Plans organizes and manages a Regulatory and Compliance Department to carry out product safety testing on products for UL/CSA certification to meet latest standards regulations and laws.

Essential Job Duties

  • Plans organizes and implements departmental goals and direction.
  • Supervises Project Leaders in completing multiple projects by giving direction which includes scheduling staffing using existing staff) and the coordination of resources.
  • Develop the department by hiring and training engineers technicians and administrative staff
  • Coordinate the ordering and installation of test equipment
  • Coordinate the implementation of the corporate Quality Management System QMS in compliance with ISO17025
  • Participate in Industry related Organizations
  • Participate in standards development processes
  • Interface with Engineers and Technicians as a part of project management as needed.
  • Coordinate workflow with Head Quarters Standard Department

  • A good understanding of Electrical/Electronic theory and circuit operation.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Work will be on site. It will also include working in an open Lab environment with low to moderate noise using various electronic and mechanical measuring instruments hand tools and power tools such as DMM Calipers Leakage current meters Power Drills and various cutting tools that are both powered and hand operated.

Travel

Some Travel will be required for this position as a part of the standards development process participation in the industry organizations etc.

  1. Education and/or Experience Needed
  2. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
  4. Be Familiar with UL/CSA standards
  5. Familiar with the Safety Standards development process
  6. Management training.

Additional Education and/or Experience Preferred

  • BA in Business Management.
