Location: Based in Farmington Hills MI (Travel Required 75100% across the Midwest & the East Coast)
About the Role
We are seeking a Traveling Project Engineer to support large-scale mechanical construction projects across the Midwest and East Coast. This role is ideal for early-career construction professionals (or recent graduates) looking to build hands-on experience in HVAC/MEP systems project controls and field coordination within a stable family-owned mechanical contractor.
You will begin with onboarding and training in Farmington Hills MI before being assigned to active project sites across multiple states including Ohio and East Coast locations. Travel may last several weeks to months at a time depending on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers on large mechanical (HVAC/MEP) construction projects
- Manage and track submittals RFIs and project documentation
- Maintain project logs reports and compliance documentation
- Assist with scheduling coordination and project progress tracking
- Coordinate communication between field teams subcontractors and office staff
- Use Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for project management
- Support closeout documentation and general project controls processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (or in progress) in Construction Management Engineering or related field
- 13 years of construction experience OR relevant internship experience in:
- Mechanical / HVAC construction
- MEP contractor environments
- General Contractor field engineering roles with a mechanical scope
- Hands-on exposure to project documentation (RFIs submittals logs reporting)
- Familiarity with Excel Word and Outlook
- Ability and willingness to travel 75100% for extended project assignments
Preferred Experience
- Internship or work experience with a Mechanical Contractor or General Contractor
- Exposure to HVAC installation piping plumbing or MEP systems
- Experience with Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
- Exposure to multi-site or multi-state project environments
