The Sr. Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is an individual contributor role within the LXSS Learning Experience Design career path. LXDs design learner-centric engaging and scalable learning experiences across digital and ILT/VILT modalities in collaboration with cross-functional partners. This role supports the development of high-quality accessible learning assets aligned to organizational goals and contributes to solution design (approach scope and recommended modality) for small-to-medium projects. LXDs manage their projects end-to-end across the design lifecycle partnering with specialists in media development and programming within agile squads to bring learning solutions to life.
Core Responsibilities
Learning Experience Design
- Design and develop engaging learning assets including eLearning microlearning job aids influencer videos and other digital content.
- Draft and structure ILT/VILT materials (e.g. facilitator guides participant guides job aids) with clear flow timing and practice opportunities.
- Apply instructional design principles and learner-centered methodologies (e.g. ADDIE/SAM) to translate business needs into learning experiences.
- Map learner journeys and define measurable objectives and behavioral outcomes that drive on-the-job performance.
- Ensure content meets standards for accessibility inclusion and branding; apply quality and content governance practices.
- Contribute to the responsible use of innovative tools and platforms including AI and digital solutions to accelerate iteration and enhance learning design.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business stakeholders SMEs and internal teams to gather requirements and co-design learning solutions.
- Participate in design sessions feedback cycles and team ceremonies to ensure continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to deliver aligned and timely deliverables.
Project Support & Documentation
- Maintain accurate design documentation including solution approach storyboards scripts and timelines.
- Support lightweight solution design for Tier 2/small-to-medium projects by clarifying scope constraints and recommended modality with business partners and SMEs.
- Own the design workstream end-to-end coordinating with media/development partners managing review cycles and escalating risks appropriately.
- Support the QA process by reviewing and testing learning assets prior to deployment; ensure issues are logged and resolved.
- Design for maintainability by creating modular reusable content components and documenting assumptions for future updates.
- Participate in agile ways of working including scrums retrospectives and iterative sprints.
Learning Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement
- Apply feedback and learner data to iterate and improve learning experiences.
- Support measurement of learning outcomes in collaboration with the Learning Service Excellence team.
- Contribute to learning content curation (LXP) by structuring and maintaining pathways and recommendations that support ongoing performance.
- Contribute to insights and recommendations that support LXSS team performance and learner impact.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in Instructional Design Learning Experience Design Education or a related field strongly preferred.
- Advanced English
- 23 years of relevant experience in instructional design learning experience design education or a related field (e.g. teaching training).
- Familiarity with instructional design models design thinking and learner-centered practices.
- Exposure to digital learning tools (e.g. authoring platforms AI translation tools video AI design & development tools) and platforms (e.g. LMS/LXP/LCMS) is highly preferred.
- Comfortable working with creative teams and digital ecosystems to bring ideas to life.
- Strong communication collaboration and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow within a high-performing team.
